Akasha Yoga Academy: 200-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training

Course program

The 200-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training from Akasha Yoga Academy is a Yoga Alliance-accredited program covering Hatha and Vinyasa yoga in the Vinyasa Krama tradition of Krishnamacharya. It prepares graduates to teach with confidence and register as RYT-200.

This training is for anyone who wants to build a comprehensive foundation in yoga and begin teaching, regardless of prior experience or credentials. It is suitable for those seeking a career change, to complement an existing wellness practice, or to deepen their personal yoga journey.

The curriculum spans four parts:
– Part 1: Breath-based asana, alignment, cleansing breathwork, heart meditation, and practical philosophy
– Part 2: Anatomy and posture study, examining how the body moves in yoga
– Part 3: Yoga physiology, including chakra studies, advanced asanas, pranayama, and bandha work
– Part 4: Teaching practicum, where students prepare and teach their own classes with personalized feedback

Additional topics include yoga philosophy (Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras, history of yoga), sequencing principles, yogic approach to diet and lifestyle, and practical business skills such as marketing and networking for yoga teachers.

The program is led by three senior teachers — Burkhard, Kirsten, and Devdas — with a combined 65 years of teaching experience. All three hold E-RYT-500 certification. Akasha Yoga Academy has been a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School since 2012 and has trained over 1,100 instructors who now teach across six continents.

The format is hybrid: self-paced pre-recorded video lessons filmed in the academy’s Bali-based studio, combined with daily live Zoom sessions for group practice and Q&A. Students progress at their own pace with lifetime access to all materials. The teaching practicum involves recording and submitting your own 60-minute and 90-minute classes, with one-on-one video feedback from a mentor teacher.
