Applied Yoga: Applied Yoga Mobility Certification

Course program

The Applied Yoga Mobility Certification by Jory Serota is the flagship advanced training of the Applied Yoga school. It bundles nine in-depth modules into a single program that teaches yoga professionals how to blend classical asana with functional movement assessment, drawing on NeuroKinetic Therapy and modern biomechanics.

Existing yoga teachers and movement professionals—personal trainers, bodyworkers, and physical therapists—who already have a foundation in their craft and want to add an anatomy-informed, assessment-based layer to their teaching. Not for beginners.

The curriculum covers nine modules focused on major joints and body systems. You’ll learn the Applied Yoga method, hip mobility, sacroiliac joint function, glute strength and hamstring length, back line strength, knee health, abdominal function, shoulder and neck mobility, thoracic spine and spinal segmentation, breath work, diaphragm mechanics, and conscious relaxation. You’ll gain skills to assess and treat most joints, improve functional motor control, identify when passive yoga poses reinforce dysfunction, and apply assessment frameworks to group and private sessions. Specific protocols are included for knee pain, neck pain, shoulder issues, hip dysfunction (including sciatica), SI joint and back pain, and dysfunctional breathing patterns.

The program is led by Jory Serota, founder of Applied Yoga and a NeuroKinetic Therapy Instructor with over twenty years of experience in kinesiology and movement. He has trained thousands of yoga teachers and bodyworkers and is known for translating complex biomechanics into language any practitioner can use. His background spans competitive tennis, collegiate ultimate frisbee, and decades inside the yoga and therapy worlds.

The certification is fully self-paced and delivered online with lifetime access. New course sections are released every two weeks across roughly a four-month window, but you can work through the material at any speed. Support is included through a private Applied Yoga Facebook group and three months of email access to Jory for course questions and case studies. A short quiz at the end of each section reinforces the material.

Jory offers a depth of knowledge that can only come from direct experience and dedicated self-study. Without fail, every time I practice with him I walk away with new techniques to awaken my body and steady the mind. He naturally weaves together the integrity of all eight limbs of yoga and leads his classes with humor, focus and precision. Jory represents a powerful link in a chain of teachers going back centuries, and is himself, an embodiment of Yoga.
