Applied Yoga: What To Do When You Tweak Your...

Course program

Applied Yoga: What To Do When You Tweak Your… is a short, self-paced injury-recovery series from Applied Yoga, founded by Jory Serota. It centers on the idea that intelligent movement, not total rest, is what allows the body to heal after a strain, a flare-up, or a sudden tweak.

The series is for anyone with pain in the lower back, neck, knee, or behind the shoulder blade—whether the discomfort is acute or chronic. It is suitable for complete beginners with no yoga background, as well as experienced yoga teachers, physical therapists, chiropractors, pilates teachers, and personal trainers who want to adapt the material into their own practice and client work.

The curriculum is organized into four 20–30 minute classes, each focused on a specific area of the body. The lower-back class teaches what to do immediately after a tweak, how to build lower-back strength to prevent recurrence, and how to increase neural drive to the lumbar region. The neck class works through techniques to relieve acute and chronic pain, expand range of motion, and engage the C1/C2 vertebra, which Jory considers the most important segments to mobilize well.

The knee class addresses what to do right after a knee injury, including hamstring flexibility, joint stabilization, Vastus Medialis Obliquus engagement, and practical work for moving up and down stairs. The shoulder class focuses on the stabbing pain behind the shoulder blade — finding the real source, stretching the rhomboid, and increasing thoracic mobility, which has knock-on effects for the back and neck as well.

The series is taught by Jory Serota, founder of Applied Yoga Seminars and a NeuroKinetic Therapy Instructor with over twenty years of experience in kinesiology, yoga, and therapeutic movement. He has trained thousands of yoga teachers and bodyworkers, and his teaching style is known for translating biomechanical detail into language any student can use.

The format is fully self-paced and online. Students get lifetime access to the four pre-recorded video classes and can practice them in any order, returning to the material whenever a new tweak shows up. There are no live sessions, no quizzes, and no fixed schedule. A 30-day money-back guarantee is offered if the course is not a good fit.

Jory offers a depth of knowledge that can only come from direct experience and dedicated self-study. Without fail, every time I practice with him I walk away with new techniques to awaken my body and steady the mind. He naturally weaves together the integrity of all eight limbs of yoga and leads his classes with humor, focus and precision. Jory represents a powerful link in a chain of teachers going back centuries, and is himself, an embodiment of Yoga.
