Doctor Yogi’s Yoga Anatomy School: 30-Hour Yoga Anatomy Online Course: Refine, Update and Inspire Your Teaching

Course program

The 30-Hour Yoga Anatomy Online Course by Doctor Yogi’s Yoga Anatomy School is a self-paced program designed to refine, update, and inspire the way yoga teachers work with anatomy and physiology. Led by Andrew McGonigle — a medically trained teacher known as Doctor Yogi — the course treats anatomy not as abstract science, but as practical knowledge that directly shapes how asana is practised, sequenced, and taught.

Yoga teachers and trainee teachers seeking a stronger understanding of anatomy, as well as sports science professionals, movement educators, and yoga teacher trainers who use it in their programs.

The curriculum explores the anatomy and physiology of the body as they apply to yoga practice, tying every topic back to asana with dedicated yoga practices so theory becomes embodied. Students learn inclusive, empowering teaching language to communicate anatomy in a way that welcomes different bodies, support students with common injuries and conditions, and update teaching with current evidence-based movement science, replacing myths with research-backed information. Each module includes a section of the course manual, homework tasks, and a multiple-choice quiz for structured progress.

The course is led by Andrew McGonigle (Doctor Yogi), a medically trained yoga anatomy and physiology teacher and author of The Physiology of Yoga (Human Kinetics) and Supporting Yoga Students with Common Injuries and Conditions. His books have been endorsed by yoga educators including Leslie Kaminoff, Bernie Clark, Jenni Rawlings, and Richard Rosen.

Delivery is fully self-paced and online. Students work through the modules at their own speed, rewinding sections as needed. Videos include subtitles in English, Spanish, Italian, and French, with additional languages available on request. The course includes six full-length yoga practices, a 70-page module-based manual, per-module quizzes, and a discount on Andrew’s two books. The standalone enrolment is currently closed; access is also available through the Enlightened Yoga Collective membership.
