Headspace: Headspace

Course program

Headspace is a subscription meditation and mindfulness app co-founded by Andy Puddicombe, a former Tibetan Buddhist monk who studied in the Himalayas for a decade. It offers a curated library of guided meditations, sleep content, and mindful movement designed to make everyday mindfulness simple and accessible.

Headspace is for anyone interested in meditation and mindfulness, including complete beginners, people looking to manage stress or improve sleep, and longtime practitioners. There are also separate plans for families, students, teens, and workplaces.

Members get access to a full library of guided meditations covering stress, anxiety, focus, resilience, self-compassion, and the fundamentals of sitting practice. Content is organized into themed courses and single sessions, with the flagship Basics series teaching beginners how to meditate.

The Sleep section offers sleepcasts, wind-down exercises, sleep music, and soundscapes designed to support a consistent bedtime routine. Move Mode pairs short mindful workouts and yoga with audio guidance that links breath, body, and attention. Focus music playlists and mini-meditations support deep work and study. Wake Up delivers daily short videos and mini-meditations.

Content is updated regularly and personalized through Ebb, the in-app AI companion that recommends sessions based on how you’re feeling.

Andy Puddicombe is the founding voice of Headspace and narrates much of the core curriculum. He was ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist monk in Northern India and later studied Circus Arts in London before co-founding Headspace. He is the author of three books published in 25 countries and 10 languages, and his TED Talk on 10 mindful minutes introduced the practice to millions. Additional guides contribute sleep, movement, and specialty content across the library.

Headspace is delivered entirely through the iOS, Android, and web apps on a self-paced subscription model. Members choose any session on demand, and the app recommends a daily meditation alongside themed courses. A 14-day free trial is included with the annual plan and a 7-day free trial with the monthly plan. The subscription auto-renews until cancelled and is eligible for HSA/FSA payment in the US.
