Island Prenatal Yoga: 50-Hour Online Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training Course

Course program

The 50-Hour Online Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training Course by Island Prenatal Yoga is a self-paced continuing education program that combines prenatal and postnatal training into one offering. It’s designed for yoga teachers and wellness professionals who want to feel prepared the first time a pregnant or postpartum student shows up in their class.

Existing yoga teachers, doulas, midwives, and birth workers who already have a foundation in yoga but want specialized knowledge for working with pregnant and postpartum clients.

The curriculum walks through the benefits of prenatal yoga, pranayama and meditations tailored to pregnancy, and the anatomical changes students go through trimester by trimester. Each trimester is addressed in its own section, with clear guidance on which modifications, stances, and transitions are appropriate at each stage, as well as pregnancy precautions and contraindications to watch for.

The class structure modules cover cues, prop use, and sequencing, with sample prenatal and postnatal classes taught by Lauren and demonstrated with real pregnant students at different trimesters. Additional sections cover Ayurveda and pregnancy, a marketing module for teachers building a prenatal practice, and downloadable sample sequences, pranayamas, and meditations you can bring into your own classes.

The course is led by Lauren Prindiville, founder of Island Prenatal Yoga and a certified prenatal and postnatal yoga teacher. She has taught over 650 students through the school’s online training programs and teaches yoga in locations including the US, Europe, Bali, and Tahiti.

The format is fully self-paced and online. Students receive 12 months of access to video lessons, downloadable manuals, and sample teaching videos, with the option to extend access if needed. An online members-only community is available for peer support, and Lauren provides one-on-one written feedback on each assignment submission.
