Island Prenatal Yoga: Ayurveda for Yoga Teachers

Course program

Ayurveda for Yoga Teachers is a self-paced online course created by Lauren of Island Prenatal Yoga. It offers a structured foundation in Ayurvedic principles — the doshas, seasonal rhythms, and the link between Ayurveda and chakras — written for yoga teachers and committed practitioners who want to weave Ayurveda into their personal practice and their teaching.

The course suits yoga teachers and practitioners who have been introduced to Ayurveda — often through a brief module in their teacher training — and want to go further. No formal prerequisite is stated; some prior yoga experience is implied. It fits anyone curious about holistic science who wants to recognize doshas in themselves and their students and apply Ayurveda day to day.

The course opens with a full introduction to Ayurveda and the three doshas — Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. From there, each dosha gets its own lecture and a dedicated yoga practice video so students experience how a Vata, Pitta, or Kapha-balancing class actually feels. Curriculum covers how to recognize each dosha in yourself and in your students, and how to use specific pranayamas, mantras, affirmations, meditations, asanas, and styles of yoga to bring each dosha into balance.

A final section ties everything together: how to plan classes around the seasons and weather, how to use Ayurveda to organize daily routine, and how Ayurveda connects with the chakras. Supporting materials include a PDF manual, weekly journaling prompts, sample lesson plans, and questions to check for understanding, plus a private Facebook group for ongoing questions and connection with Lauren and other students.

The course is taught by Lauren Prindiville, creator of Island Ayurveda & Yoga and founder of Island Prenatal Yoga. She has gathered her Ayurveda training from study in India and from multiple Ayurveda schools and workshops, and has been weaving Ayurvedic principles into her own yoga teaching and daily life for years.

The format is fully self-paced and 100% online. Five pre-recorded lessons release weekly once you enroll; after that, you keep unlimited lifetime access on any device. Students work through video lectures and yoga practice videos at their own pace, alongside a PDF manual and journaling prompts. A private Facebook group serves as the support channel for questions and connection with the teacher and peers.
