ISSA (International Sports Sciences Association): 200-Hour Online Teacher Training

Course program

The 200-Hour Online Teacher Training by ISSA (International Sports Sciences Association) is a Yoga Alliance-registered RYS 200 program delivered entirely online. It combines asana instruction, yogic philosophy, anatomy, and practical teaching skills to prepare graduates to lead classes and apply for RYT-200 registration with Yoga Alliance.

This training is for students at any level of yoga practice, including aspiring yoga teachers, yoga enthusiasts who want to deepen their practice, and career changers entering the wellness field. No prior credentials are required, but a current CPR/AED certification is needed.

The curriculum covers six core areas: asana and sequencing with over 80 postures, anatomy and physiology, yoga history and philosophy, teaching methodology, meditation and breathwork, and the business of yoga. Students work through a digital searchable textbook and over 250 3D exercise animations that demonstrate form and alignment for each posture.

Beyond the physical practice, the program builds the practical foundation for running a yoga business — including marketing skills, class structure, and tools for reaching future students. Career pathways covered include studio teaching, private coaching, corporate wellness, and retreat or workshop leadership.

The program is led by five instructors: Alex Artymiak (E-RYT-200), a Santa Monica-based teacher who has taught over 5,000 classes; Angel DeSantis (E-RYT-500), a Los Angeles yoga teacher and mental health advocate; Andrew Sealy, a yoga artist and host of the Yoga Revealed Podcast; Buddy Macuha (E-RYT-500), a Group Fitness Manager at Equinox West Hollywood; and Vasu Dudakia, an Ayurvedic Practitioner trained in the Vedic tradition.

The format is 100% self-paced online. Students have up to six months to complete the program and progress through modules at their own speed. Practice quizzes and a study guide support learning throughout, and live Q&A sessions with instructors are available for questions. A dedicated student support team is available for the duration of the program.
