Loka Yoga School: 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Course program

The 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training by Loka Yoga School is a Yoga Alliance-accredited residential program held at the school’s Bali Yoga Shala in Kedungu, Bali. It blends classical Hatha with modern Vinyasa Flow, alongside Yin, Ashtanga, and Kundalini, rooted in the school’s focus on combining yogic tradition with contemporary anatomical understanding.

The training is for students preparing for a career as a yoga teacher and practitioners who want to deepen their own practice. It welcomes students from beginner through intermediate levels, with around two years of personal yoga experience recommended but no prior credential required.

The curriculum covers functional anatomy and physiology, yoga mechanics, intelligent sequencing, adjustments and corrections, alignment, and the principles of teaching yoga. Students study yoga philosophy, history, and mythology, along with the bandhas, mantras and mudras, and the journey of spirituality in practice.

Daily classes include meditation, pranayama breathwork, mantra chanting, and asana across multiple lineages — Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Ashtanga, and Kundalini. Additional workshops cover advanced asana, Yoga for Kids and Teens, ecstatic dance, kirtan, and the Business of Yoga. A sample day runs from a 6:30am full practice through anatomy, technique, philosophy, and afternoon training blocks, with Sundays off for rest and exploration.

The program is led by co-founders Taryn and Yann alongside a team of expert teachers including Stella, Jeanne, Alka, and Deva. All lead teachers are E-RYT certified with 15 to 30 years of professional experience in their specialised fields. Loka Yoga School has been running yoga teacher trainings in India and Bali since 2016 and operates as a legal, accredited school under PT Bali Yoga Shala.

The training is delivered in-person over four weeks at Loka Yoga School’s Bali Yoga Shala in Kedungu, with classes capped at 20 students. Graduates also receive lifetime access to the online course materials. Accommodation and meal options are available through a partner resort near the venue. A non-refundable deposit secures the booking.

I recently completed this breathwork course, and I genuinely found it to be a very valuable and informative experience. The content was presented in a clear, structured, and easy-to-follow way, which made even more complex concepts feel approachable and grounded. I appreciated how the course balanced both theory and practical application, allowing me to not only understand why breathwork works, but also how to use it effectively and safely.

Bang for your buck! This course is so rich in knowledge and practical learning techniques. I will be learning over and over as I practice these pranayamas in a deeper spiritual way. Yann and Taryn are very clear and compassionate in their sharing of the lessons.

Having done multiple online courses, this one stood out for its depth and practicality. The teaching section was phenomenal. I loved the anatomy, the guided sessions, and how I now truly understand the breath.

Brilliant course! The course is well structured into bite size chunks to navigate at your own pace. The anatomy component is quite detailed, even though considered relatively basic, and it was a great addition to the course, to offer the physiological and scientific aspect of breathwork efficacy. Both Taryn and Yann are knowledgeable instructors.
