Loka Yoga School: Breathwork Teacher Training

Course program

The Breathwork Teacher Training by Loka Yoga School is a Yoga Alliance YACEP-accredited 50-hour program built around The LOKA Method — an integrated framework that combines pranayama lineage, modern breathwork science, nervous-system education, and ethical facilitation. The training prepares students to teach 25 breathwork techniques safely and confidently, whether in private sessions, group classes, or as a specialization within an existing wellness practice.

This training is open to students at any level — no prior credential or yoga teaching experience is required. It is designed for breathwork practitioners ready to begin teaching, existing yoga and wellness professionals adding a breathwork specialization, and individuals who want to deepen their personal practice while gaining a recognized facilitator certification. The school explicitly welcomes coaches, therapists, and dedicated practitioners new to teaching.

The curriculum is organized around The LOKA Method’s four pillars — Science, Spirit, Self, and Service. The anatomy and physiology module covers the respiratory system, lung volumes, gas exchange, oxygen and carbon dioxide transport, hyperventilation safety, and how breath affects the nervous system and emotional regulation. The breathwork techniques module teaches 25 practices, including the major Pranayama techniques alongside modern breathwork methods used for calming, energizing, balancing, and emotional release.

Beyond technique, students study the pranic body, mudras, bandhas, pranayama preparation, and advanced modern breathwork practices. The facilitation curriculum covers trauma-informed teaching methodology, consent-based session design, ethical boundaries and scope of practice, navigating emotional releases, and how to close a session safely. Bonus modules include the teacher-student relationship, full lesson planning, and session structure templates. Embodied practice runs throughout the program, with guided breathwork sessions, full-length practice videos, and personal integration so graduates lead from lived experience rather than memorized scripts.

The training is led by Loka Yoga School founder Taryn Weggelaar, a Yoga Alliance E-RYT teacher who has trained students across Bali, India, Australia, the United States, and Europe and worked with Olympic athletes, corporate teams, seniors, prenatal students, and mental health clients. She co-teaches with Yann Cadic, a medical professional and anatomy educator who leads the breathwork anatomy and physiology curriculum.

The format is fully self-paced and online, with professional video classes, presentations, and guided breathwork practice sessions accessible from anywhere. Enrollment includes three months of full access, after which students can continue access on a $4.99 monthly subscription, or unlock lifetime access by enrolling through a Loka Yoga School training bundle. Students also receive entry to a private community for connection with graduates and teachers.

I recently completed this breathwork course, and I genuinely found it to be a very valuable and informative experience. The content was presented in a clear, structured, and easy-to-follow way, which made even more complex concepts feel approachable and grounded. I appreciated how the course balanced both theory and practical application, allowing me to not only understand why breathwork works, but also how to use it effectively and safely.

Bang for your buck! This course is so rich in knowledge and practical learning techniques. I will be learning over and over as I practice these pranayamas in a deeper spiritual way. Yann and Taryn are very clear and compassionate in their sharing of the lessons.

Having done multiple online courses, this one stood out for its depth and practicality. The teaching section was phenomenal. I loved the anatomy, the guided sessions, and how I now truly understand the breath.

This course exceeded every expectation. I thought I was just filling in gaps — but I walked away with a complete, embodied understanding. I finally feel ready to guide others in a safe, informed way. The value is unmatched.

Brilliant course! The course is well structured into bite size chunks to navigate at your own pace. The anatomy component is quite detailed, even though considered relatively basic, and it was a great addition to the course, to offer the physiological and scientific aspect of breathwork efficacy. Both Taryn and Yann are knowledgeable instructors.
