Loka Yoga School: Children & Teens Mindfulness & Yoga Teacher Training

Course program

The 80-Hour Children & Teens Mindfulness & Yoga Teacher Training by Loka Yoga School is a self-paced online program for anyone who wants to teach yoga and mindfulness to kids and teens between the ages of 3 and 17. The training is accredited by Yoga Alliance as an 80-hour YACEP continuing education course and integrates a “whole person” approach across body, soul, mind, and spirit.

No prior credentials or experience are required. The training is designed for parents and caregivers introducing yoga into family life, therapists and educators wanting a new toolset, certified yoga teachers adding a kids-yoga specialization, and entrepreneurs starting a business working with children. Anyone curious about supporting children through movement, breath, and mindfulness can enroll without prerequisites.

The curriculum covers age-appropriate yoga and mindfulness practice for ages 3 to 17. Mat-based and chair-based yoga movements, energizing and calming breathing techniques, and the Sun Salutation flow are taught alongside how to communicate poses to children. The training works through Patanjali’s 8 Limbs of Yoga, the chakra system, and traditional yoga ethics and philosophy.

A dedicated childhood development module covers motor skills, the skeletal, nervous, endocrine, respiratory, and digestive systems in children, and how yoga supports physical growth. Special-needs sections address ADHD, autism, Down syndrome, asthma, primitive reflexes, and emotional regulation strategies. Storytelling and sequencing is taught through Howard Gardner’s learning styles, with focus activities, resting activities, partner poses, mandala work, and age-appropriate yoga games. Bonus toolkits include a card pack with 40+ kids yoga activities, a manual of 55 yoga poses for children, 10 breathing techniques, and 27 mindfulness and meditation activities for all ages.

The format is fully self-paced and online. All content is delivered through professionally recorded videos, lectures, presentations, and reading material that students can complete in their own time and at their own pace. Students receive personal written feedback on their teaching as part of the bonus assessment component, and join a global Children & Teens Yoga community support group of fellow kids yoga teachers and students worldwide.

I recently completed this breathwork course, and I genuinely found it to be a very valuable and informative experience. The content was presented in a clear, structured, and easy-to-follow way, which made even more complex concepts feel approachable and grounded. I appreciated how the course balanced both theory and practical application, allowing me to not only understand why breathwork works, but also how to use it effectively and safely.

Bang for your buck! This course is so rich in knowledge and practical learning techniques. I will be learning over and over as I practice these pranayamas in a deeper spiritual way. Yann and Taryn are very clear and compassionate in their sharing of the lessons.

Having done multiple online courses, this one stood out for its depth and practicality. The teaching section was phenomenal. I loved the anatomy, the guided sessions, and how I now truly understand the breath.

This course exceeded every expectation. I thought I was just filling in gaps — but I walked away with a complete, embodied understanding. I finally feel ready to guide others in a safe, informed way. The value is unmatched.

Brilliant course! The course is well structured into bite size chunks to navigate at your own pace. The anatomy component is quite detailed, even though considered relatively basic, and it was a great addition to the course, to offer the physiological and scientific aspect of breathwork efficacy. Both Taryn and Yann are knowledgeable instructors.
