Loka Yoga School: The Emotional Detox Cleanse Yoga Teacher Training

Course program

The Emotional Detox: Cleanse Yoga Teacher Training by Loka Yoga School is a self-paced online certification in Cleanse Yoga, a 7-step C.L.E.A.N.S.E. method created by best-selling author and psychologist Sherianna Boyle. The training bridges psychology, neuroscience and yoga, teaching students to detox emotional resistance rather than suppress feelings.

No prior yoga or teaching credential is required to enrol. The training is open to anyone wanting to expand their self-care toolkit or process emotions more skilfully, including students moving through grief, burnout or major life transitions. For existing yoga and movement teachers, it functions as a Level 1 Continuing Education program (YACEP) that can be added to an existing certification.

The curriculum spans four parts. Part 1 lays the foundation of emotional detox: the anatomy of emotions, how the brain processes feeling, neuropeptides, the vagus nerve and the science of vibration and resistance. Part 2 walks step by step through the 7-step C.L.E.A.N.S.E. method: Clear Reactivity, Look Inward, Emit, Activate, Nourish, Surrender and Ease, taught through breath, somatic awareness, sound and mantra, movement, integration and embodiment.

Part 3 focuses on teaching methodology and integration, showing how to weave Cleanse into Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin and Restorative classes, build powerful class themes, read the 8 Limbs of Yoga through the lens of emotion, and create a safe, ethical container. It also covers business tools for building a private clientele. Part 4 is a practice lab with a 60-minute Cleanse flow, a 30-minute restorative practice, a 12-minute seated cleanse and music playlists for each step.

The training is led by Sherianna Boyle, a Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT), former School Psychologist and adjunct Psychology Professor. She is the international best-selling author of eleven books, including the Emotional Detox series and The Four Gifts of Anxiety, and the originator of the C.L.E.A.N.S.E. Method. Her work has appeared in Yoga Journal, Psychology Today, MindBodyGreen and Kripalu.

The format is fully self-paced and on demand. Students receive immediate access to all video modules, audio practices, written materials and the training manual on enrolment, with lifetime access to revisit the content. There are no live sessions or fixed deadlines, so the course can be completed over a weekend or integrated slowly over several weeks. Completion is assessed via a final exam and quiz at the end of the curriculum.

I recently completed this breathwork course, and I genuinely found it to be a very valuable and informative experience. The content was presented in a clear, structured, and easy-to-follow way, which made even more complex concepts feel approachable and grounded. I appreciated how the course balanced both theory and practical application, allowing me to not only understand why breathwork works, but also how to use it effectively and safely.

Bang for your buck! This course is so rich in knowledge and practical learning techniques. I will be learning over and over as I practice these pranayamas in a deeper spiritual way. Yann and Taryn are very clear and compassionate in their sharing of the lessons.

Having done multiple online courses, this one stood out for its depth and practicality. The teaching section was phenomenal. I loved the anatomy, the guided sessions, and how I now truly understand the breath.

This course exceeded every expectation. I thought I was just filling in gaps — but I walked away with a complete, embodied understanding. I finally feel ready to guide others in a safe, informed way. The value is unmatched.

Brilliant course! The course is well structured into bite size chunks to navigate at your own pace. The anatomy component is quite detailed, even though considered relatively basic, and it was a great addition to the course, to offer the physiological and scientific aspect of breathwork efficacy. Both Taryn and Yann are knowledgeable instructors.
