Loka Yoga School: Yin Yoga Teacher Training

Course program

This 50-hour Yin Yoga teacher training is delivered fully online and self-paced. Loka Yoga School designed it for yoga teachers and serious students who want to teach Yin safely and confidently, with deep grounding in the practice’s philosophy, anatomy, and pose mechanics. The training is accredited by Yoga Alliance for 50 YACEP continuing-education hours and is taught by Loka founders Taryn Weggelaar and Yann Cadic from the school’s Bali campus.

This training is built for two groups: existing yoga teachers who want to add Yin to their offering and broaden their continuing-education hours, and committed practitioners who want a thorough conceptual and anatomical grounding before stepping into teaching. The course welcomes students of any prior style and is designed to support those who teach mixed populations, including older students, pregnant students, people recovering from injuries, and athletes who need recovery work alongside their primary training.

You explore the philosophy and history of Yin Yoga, including its yin-yang context and how it differs from active styles. The anatomy and physiology track covers fascia, connective tissue, joint compression versus tension, and how stress and stretching affect the body, taught by Yann with the depth that several student reviews highlight. The practical curriculum walks through 64 Yin poses with detailed cueing, variations, contraindications, and a downloadable pose manual you keep for reference. You study sequencing, the use of props, and how to design themed and target-area classes. The training also covers meridian theory, mantra and mudra basics, teacher ethics, and the practical mechanics of holding space, all delivered alongside over eight hours of full-length sample classes you can practice with as a student before teaching them yourself.

The course is led by Loka Yoga School co-founders Taryn Weggelaar and Yann Cadic. Taryn is a Yoga Alliance E-RYT who has trained students in Bali, India, Australia, the United States, and Europe and brings two decades of experience with populations ranging from Olympic athletes to pregnant students and people recovering from injuries. Yann is a medical professional and anatomy educator who leads the anatomy and physiology curriculum, with a focus on making the science immediately applicable to teaching.

The course is fully self-paced and runs through Loka’s online portal. Once you enrol, you receive immediate access to all modules, video lessons, full-length Yin classes, workbooks, and the downloadable 64-pose manual. You can study in any order and revisit material as needed. The fee of $395 includes three months of portal access; after that an optional monthly subscription keeps access live. Support runs over email and the school’s private Facebook group, with Taryn and Yann responding directly to student questions.

I recently completed this breathwork course, and I genuinely found it to be a very valuable and informative experience. The content was presented in a clear, structured, and easy-to-follow way, which made even more complex concepts feel approachable and grounded. I appreciated how the course balanced both theory and practical application, allowing me to not only understand why breathwork works, but also how to use it effectively and safely.

Bang for your buck! This course is so rich in knowledge and practical learning techniques. I will be learning over and over as I practice these pranayamas in a deeper spiritual way. Yann and Taryn are very clear and compassionate in their sharing of the lessons.

Having done multiple online courses, this one stood out for its depth and practicality. The teaching section was phenomenal. I loved the anatomy, the guided sessions, and how I now truly understand the breath.

Brilliant course! The course is well structured into bite size chunks to navigate at your own pace. The anatomy component is quite detailed, even though considered relatively basic, and it was a great addition to the course, to offer the physiological and scientific aspect of breathwork efficacy. Both Taryn and Yann are knowledgeable instructors.
