Ma Yoga: Ma Yoga Prenatal Certification Online (RPYT)

Course program

The Online Ma Yoga Prenatal Certification Program (RPYT) by Ma Yoga is an 85-hour, Yoga Alliance-registered training that prepares yoga teachers, birth practitioners, and aspiring teachers to guide pregnant and postpartum students. Built on Ma Yoga’s therapeutic, alignment-based method and its signature Five Sacred Steps for pregnancy, it teaches principles meant to keep every prenatal pose safe, effective, and transformative for mom and baby.

This program is open to students at every level — no prior yoga training is required, though it suits practicing yoga teachers as well. It’s designed for yoga teachers who feel unsure when a pregnant student joins their class, for people with no previous training who want to teach moms and moms-to-be, and for birth practitioners such as nurse midwives, doulas, and nurses seeking calming, alignment-based yoga tools to use in their work.

The curriculum spans four trainings, or “circles.” The Yoga of Pregnancy teaches you to lead safe, strengthening prenatal classes for all trimesters. The Yoga of Healing covers using yoga to address injuries and conditions in women’s changing bodies. Mayurveda Self-Care introduces simple Ayurvedic practices and daily rhythm routines to support moms on and off the mat. The Yoga of Birth journeys through the phases of labor, guided by birth and postpartum doulas who are Certified Ma Yoga Teachers.

Throughout, you’ll work with the Five Sacred Steps for Pregnancy, rooted in the five elements of space, earth, water, fire, and air, learning principles that hold true in every pose so you can teach with calm and creativity. You’ll learn to adapt regular poses and build prenatal themes and classes, provide therapeutic adjustments for common aches and pains, help prevent and heal postpartum issues, and understand the pros and cons of birth choices and how yoga can transform labor.

The program is created and led by Ma Yoga founder Jessica Jennings, MS, ERYT, RPYT — a kinesiologist and Certified Anusara Yoga Instructor who taught prenatal and postpartum yoga for over twenty years and spent six years as a Wellness Educator in the Kaiser Permanente Ob/Gyn department. Students are also supported by a team of guest teachers and Certified Ma Yoga mentors, including birth and postpartum doulas who lead the birth training.

The format is hybrid and flexible. Registration gives instant access to all four trainings — videos, handouts, and support — in the online Training Circle, with optional live Zoom sessions or an on-demand-only path. You can start anytime and certify in about four months or take up to a year. Support includes one-on-one mentorship with a Certified Ma Yoga Teacher, weekly office hours with Jessica, and mentor feedback on recorded teaching.

Completing the program grants Ma Yoga Certification and counts toward the Yoga Alliance Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher (RPYT) credential, an 85-hour prenatal designation. As a Ma Yoga Certified Instructor you can teach your own prenatal classes, and graduates have the opportunity to teach within Ma Yoga’s online community while earning their required Yoga Alliance prenatal teaching hours with ongoing mentorship.

I felt called to prenatal yoga as a mother of four and grandmother of four. The course was not only filled with knowledge, but it also touched my heart. The Ayurvedic teachings and guidance from the Five Sacred Steps provided wisdom that resonated deeply with me.

While my certification through Ma Yoga was entirely online, I felt so connected to Jessica and those training with me. The most helpful part was the ma yoga mentorship where I recorded myself teaching and was able to get feedback from an experienced teacher.
