Meditation University: Create Life-Changing Meditation Courses

Course program

How To Create Life-Changing Meditation Courses is a self-paced online course by Kevin Ellerton, founder of Meditation University and Meditation Magazine. It walks aspiring meditation teachers through the full process of building their own online meditation videos and courses, from initial planning to filming, editing, uploading, and marketing.

This course is for meditation teachers, practitioners, and creators who want to package what they teach into online videos and courses. No prior credentials or production experience are required. The curriculum begins with the fundamentals of who should make meditation videos and why, then moves through every step of producing and distributing them.

The curriculum is organized in six parts. The Introduction covers who should make meditation videos and courses, why to make them, what kinds of videos are possible, and the trade-offs between quick and dirty versus polished and professional production. Planning Content addresses video length and how to choose topics.

The Courses section goes into comprehensiveness, outlining versus scripting, creating slides in Canva, structuring modules, quizzes, tests and assignments, and certificates and accreditations. Meditation Videos focuses on on-camera craft: talking heads versus screen share versus slides, speaking style, tone and cadence, filler words, eye contact, allergies, smiling, and even drinking water on camera. Filming and Editing covers video equipment and software, audio equipment and software, lighting and background, filming, and editing. The final section covers uploading, course platforms, and sharing and marketing the finished work.

The course is taught by Kevin Ellerton, founder of Meditation Magazine and Meditation University and director of the Meditation Teacher Training program. Kevin has been working to bring meditation to a wider audience since 2007, and his projects include the Spirit Quest documentary series and Meditation Magazine alongside his teaching work.

The format is self-paced and fully online. Students work through 24 pre-recorded video lessons organized into six topic areas, plus one quiz at the end of the Courses section. There are no scheduled live sessions. Graduates of the course are eligible for priority review when submitting their own meditation courses for publication on Meditation University and articles for Meditation Magazine.
