Meditation University: Meditation Teacher Training (MTT-200)

Course program

The Meditation Teacher Training (MTT-200) by Meditation University is a 200-hour program designed to prepare graduates to teach meditation, mindfulness, and breathwork. It combines pre-recorded lessons, personal practice, reading, and live teaching experience into a single structured path toward certification.

This program is for students at any level, with no prior meditation credential or teaching background required. It is suited for people who feel called to share meditation with others, whether as a career change, to complement an existing wellness practice, or to deepen their personal practice.

The curriculum is taught by a faculty of 13 teachers, each bringing a distinct lineage or specialty. Students explore a broad range of techniques — mindfulness, breathwork, pranayama, kundalini meditation, yoga nidra, mantra practice, trauma-informed meditation, and more — through pre-recorded lessons they can revisit at their own pace.

Alongside the lessons, students are guided through structured personal practice, reading from a course handbook and selected spiritual texts, and live interaction with the teaching team. The program is organized around four commitments: expanding knowledge and technique, building skill and confidence through teaching practice, becoming certified, and stepping into a sustainable career as a meditation teacher.

The program is led by founder Kevin Ellerton, founder of Meditation Magazine and Meditation University, alongside 12 additional teachers including Dr. Jenelle Kim, Punnu Singh Wasu, Dr. Mansi Vira, Prince Daniels Jr., Nhi Nhi Le, Brett Cotter, Isabelle Baker, Forrest Neal, Ronn Pawo McLane, Thara Natalie, Mark Van Buren, and Ashton August. Their backgrounds span Chinese medicine, kundalini, naturopathy, trauma-informed practice, yoga nidra, and mindfulness for children and athletes.

The format is hybrid: students move through pre-recorded materials at their own pace and join live Zoom sessions for teaching practice and Q&A on days and times that work for them. The 200 hours break down into 50 hours of learning, 50 hours of personal meditation, 50 hours of reading, 25 hours of interactive teaching practice, and 25 hours of actual teaching. A 30-day money-back guarantee is offered for students who want to explore the program first.
