Mindful Store: Building Resilience in Challenging Times Course

Course program

Building Resilience in Challenging Times is a self-paced online course from Mindful Store, hosted by clinical psychologist and meditation teacher Dr. Christopher Willard. Grounded in mindfulness, self-compassion, and the neuroscience of post-traumatic growth, the program offers practices designed to help students move through adversity with greater insight, awareness, and steadiness.

This course is open to anyone facing difficulty or change in their life. No prior experience with mindfulness is required. It is designed for people who want science-backed methods for working with adversity, who are seeking mindfulness to support personal growth, and who want practical tools they can fold into daily life rather than another abstract framework.

The curriculum is organized around five main themes: Introducing the Journey, The Mind/Body Connection, Mindful Psychology, The Emotional Body, and The Ongoing Journey. Across these themes, students learn to mindfully manage the body, brain, and relationships, and to overcome the helplessness that often accompanies hard seasons. The course explores the neuroscience of post-traumatic growth and how to apply it in everyday life, alongside practices drawn from mindfulness, self-compassion, and the wisdom of recovery programs. It also covers how to empower yourself and your community, and how to cultivate insight, awareness, and resilience as ongoing practices. Sixteen video lessons walk through these themes in short, focused segments, complemented by audio practices that can be downloaded for use on the go.

The course is hosted by Dr. Christopher Willard (Psy.D.), a clinical psychologist, author, and consultant based in Massachusetts. He is the author of fifteen books, including Alphabreaths, Growing Up Mindful, and The Breathing Book, translated into more than a dozen languages, and he teaches at Harvard Medical School. He has been invited to speak in more than twenty-five countries.

The format is fully self-paced. Students work through sixteen pre-recorded video lessons organized into five course themes, alongside downloadable audio practices for use away from the screen. There are no required live sessions, cohorts, or scheduled meetings. Enrollment includes lifetime access, so students can return to the videos and practices whenever life calls for them again.
