Mindful Store: Radical Self-Care Course

Course program

Radical Self-Care is a self-paced course by Mindful Store, taught by self-care activist and mindfulness teacher Shelly Tygielski. The program reframes self-care as a willingness to take small, regular moments for ourselves so we can show up more fully for our workplaces, communities, and homes, rather than as an individualistic indulgence.

The course is open to anyone curious about mindfulness and self-care. No prior practice or credentials are needed. It is designed for people who feel stretched thin, suspect they are heading toward burnout, or want to move beyond a transactional view of self-care and explore how the practice can serve both themselves and the people around them.

The curriculum is built around four core topics, each delivered through short video lessons. The first topic, What is Real Self-Care, reclaims the definition of self-care and pushes back against a culture that equates rest with indulgence. The second, Naming the Obstacles to Self-Care, names what keeps people from showing up for themselves and explores how to push against a culture that tries to keep us busy.

The third topic, Recognizing Burnout, addresses how to spot burnout in yourself and respond to your own needs so you can return to the world as a kinder, gentler version of yourself. The fourth, Building a Self-Care Community, examines how to take the practice outward, modeling self-care in workplaces, families, and communities so it becomes a shared movement rather than a solitary effort. The course also includes a downloadable resource guide and a series of micro-practices designed to slot into daily life.

The course is led by Shelly Tygielski, a self-care activist and trauma-informed mindfulness teacher. She is the author of Sit Down to Rise Up and the founder of Pandemic of Love, a CNN-Heroes featured global mutual aid organization. Her work bringing mindfulness to underserved communities has been featured in over 100 media outlets, and she contributes to a weekly TIME magazine feature called Evidence of Human Kindness.

The course is fully self-paced and delivered online through Mindful Store. It includes 15+ video classes organized around four core topics, a downloadable resource guide, and a series of short micro-practices students can weave into daily life. There are no required live sessions, no scheduled cohort, and no fixed start date — students work through the material on their own time.
