My Vinyasa Practice: 40-hour Prenatal Yoga

Course program

The 40-hour Prenatal Yoga course by My Vinyasa Practice is a Yoga Alliance approved continuing education program led by certified yoga therapist Michelle Young. The course brings a trauma-informed, inclusive approach to supporting pregnant students through every stage of pregnancy and into the postpartum period.

This course is for yoga teachers, wellness professionals, and serious practitioners curious about prenatal yoga. The course introduces fundamentals, so no prior prenatal experience is required, though general yoga familiarity helps. It is also a starting point for anyone considering the school’s longer 85-hour Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training pathway.

The curriculum covers prenatal yoga philosophy, anatomy and physiology, sequencing, and safety in yoga throughout pregnancy. Specific topics include lunar cycle tracking, building a prenatal sequence, the reproductive system, safety in pregnancy, postpartum considerations, and modifications for different trimesters and bodies.

Beyond physical practice, the course explores theming for prenatal classes, yin and restorative yoga as supportive practices, and Ayurvedic principles relevant to pregnancy and the postpartum period. The material is grounded in Michelle Young’s clinical, trauma-informed lens and draws on traditional yogic principles and history.

The course is guided by Michelle Young, C-IAYT, a certified yoga therapist specializing in cardiac, cancer, eating recovery, and behavioral health, with additional support from Tara Cleven, E-RYT 500 and C-IAYT. Michelle is the founder of My Vinyasa Practice and develops and leads teacher training internationally.

The course is fully self-paced and remote, with a minimum two-week pace and lifetime access. Students receive prerecorded video lectures, asana practices with Michelle, written content, downloadable PDFs, and ebooks. All manuals and digital resources are included. One-on-one mentorship is available, and live support runs during business hours alongside various weekly live calls.

This Viniyoga training exceeded every expectation I had. I loved how each lesson emphasized personalization and adapting yoga to the individual. I now feel confident offering sequences that truly meet my students where they are.

As someone who wanted a more therapeutic approach to yoga, this training was exactly what I needed. The instruction is clear, compassionate, and deeply informed by the Viniyoga tradition. I gained practical tools for working with different bodies and abilities, learned mindful pacing.

This program helped me reconnect with the heart of yoga. The integration of philosophy, functional movement, and breathwork created a learning experience that felt both personal and transformative. I've grown not only as a teacher but also as a practitioner.
