My Vinyasa Practice: Advanced Sequencing in Yoga Course

Course program

The Advanced Sequencing in Yoga Course by My Vinyasa Practice is a self-paced continuing education program approved through Yoga Alliance. Founded by yoga therapist Michelle Young, MVP blends ancient yogic principles with modern science to help certified teachers refine the way they structure, theme, and cue their classes.

This course is designed for already-certified yoga teachers who want to deepen their class design skills and earn continuing education hours. Because it awards CEUs through Yoga Alliance, students need an existing yoga credential to apply the hours meaningfully. It suits teachers who want more confidence theming flows, adapting sequences to student progression, and creating classes that feel intentional rather than improvised.

The curriculum focuses on the craft of building advanced yoga sequences. Topics include pose families, types of movement, proprioception, and cueing asana, giving teachers a structured vocabulary for breaking down and rebuilding their flows.

Further material covers block sequencing, elements of flow, theming, and the principles of neuroplasticity as they apply to repeated practice and skill acquisition. Students explore how to honor biomechanics, breath, and energetic flow within a class, and how to adapt sequences to a student’s level of progression. The training emphasizes safe and impactful design — building flows that develop strength, flexibility, and mindfulness without losing intention or coherence. By the end, teachers have a clearer framework for designing dynamic, purposeful classes from a blank page.

The program is guided by Michelle Young, C-IAYT, a certified yoga therapist specializing in cardiac, cancer, eating recovery, and behavioral health, and founder of My Vinyasa Practice. Michelle is supported by Tara Cleven, E-RYT 500 and C-IAYT, a senior teacher within the school.

The course is fully self-paced and remote, with a minimum suggested completion time of about two weeks. Students work through prerecorded video lectures, ebooks, and all required digital materials at their own pace. The program is paired with lifetime access, one-on-one mentorship, and live support during business hours through MVP’s various weekly community calls.

As someone who wanted a more therapeutic approach to yoga, this training was exactly what I needed. The instruction is clear, compassionate, and deeply informed by the Viniyoga tradition. I gained practical tools for working with different bodies and abilities, learned mindful pacing.

This program helped me reconnect with the heart of yoga. The integration of philosophy, functional movement, and breathwork created a learning experience that felt both personal and transformative. I've grown not only as a teacher but also as a practitioner.
