My Vinyasa Practice: Healing Ancestral Trauma

Course program

Healing Ancestral Trauma by My Vinyasa Practice is a self-paced online training that explores how inherited patterns shape physical, emotional, and energetic experience. The program uses a trauma-informed yoga therapy framework to examine intergenerational wounds and offers integrative tools to identify, understand, and transform them through yogic practice.

This training is designed for yoga teachers, wellness practitioners, and individuals exploring intergenerational patterns held in their body and nervous system. No prerequisites are required to enroll. Because the program is approved for 10 Yoga Alliance CEUs, it is especially useful for existing Yoga Alliance-registered teachers who want continuing education hours alongside a deeper personal inquiry.

The curriculum centers on understanding and working with intergenerational trauma through the combined lenses of yogic philosophy, modern epigenetics, and somatic healing. Students study the Kleshas as a framework for recognizing inherited patterns, and explore how ancestral experiences are stored in the body and nervous system and how they shape behaviors, belief systems, and relationships.

The training emphasizes self-awareness and self-compassion as foundations for healing. Through written content, pre-recorded video lectures, asana practices, and reading materials, students learn to identify attachments to limiting narratives, work with the realize-release-reconcile sequence, and reframe old pain. Practical tools and strategies for personal growth and liberation are woven through the program, alongside ebooks and PDF downloads that support each topic.

The program is guided by Michelle Young, a C-IAYT certified Yoga Therapist with specializations in cardiac, cancer, eating recovery, and behavioral health. Michelle is an expert in anatomy, physiology, movement science, and yoga philosophy. She is supported by Tara Cleven, E-RYT 500 and C-IAYT.

The format is self-paced and remote. Students register at any time and work through pre-recorded video lectures, asana practices with Michelle, written content, and PDF downloads. All required texts are included in electronic format. Live support is available during business hours through weekly live calls, plus 1:1 support and mentorship. The estimated minimum completion time is four weeks, with lifetime access to all materials.

This program helped me reconnect with the heart of yoga. The integration of philosophy, functional movement, and breathwork created a learning experience that felt both personal and transformative. I've grown not only as a teacher but also as a practitioner.
