My Vinyasa Practice: IAYT Yoga Therapy Certification

Course program

The IAYT Yoga Therapy Certification by My Vinyasa Practice is a two-year, IAYT-accredited Clinical Yoga Therapy Program for existing yoga teachers. It integrates private yoga therapy with integrative medicine, preparing graduates to work as Certified Clinical Yoga Therapists within care teams of medical professionals in clinical and academic settings.

This program is for current yoga teachers building a clinical, therapeutic specialization. Applicants must hold a 200-hour teaching certification or its equivalent, have at least one year of personal practice, and one year of teaching experience. It suits teachers ready to work alongside physicians, psychologists, and social workers in healthcare settings rather than studio-only contexts.

The curriculum spans three modules plus a structured mentorship. Module 1 covers MVP’s 300-hour training plus Applied Yoga: Subtle Bodies, Adaptive Yoga, Trauma-Informed Yoga, Ayurveda, Yoga Nidra, Yoga Therapy Applications of Pranayama, and Yoga Therapy Applications for Anxiety. Completing Module 1 also fulfills requirements to elevate Yoga Alliance registration to 500-hour RYT.

Module 2 moves into clinical coursework with six one-on-one sessions with an MVP C-IAYT Yoga Therapist, alongside Biology of Yoga, Psychology of Yoga, Marmas and Mudras, Sound Healing, Group Yoga Therapy, Yoga Therapy for Memory Loss, Yoga Therapy Interventions, Yoga for Recovery, and Pre- and Post-Operative Interventions. Mentorship runs through the program as fifteen monthly two-hour cohort sessions, plus 33 hours of one-on-one mentor support and 100 hours of group yoga therapy facilitation.

The format is hybrid. Lectures are delivered online — students can attend synchronously or, for some courses, watch recordings. Mentorship happens monthly in live Zoom cohorts, with weekly Yoga Therapy Office Hours offering three additional 60-minute support sessions each week. Module 3 includes a supervised internship in the MVP Online Student Yoga Therapy Clinic and a required in-person retreat in Central Texas before graduation.

This Viniyoga training exceeded every expectation I had. I loved how each lesson emphasized personalization and adapting yoga to the individual. I now feel confident offering sequences that truly meet my students where they are.

As someone who wanted a more therapeutic approach to yoga, this training was exactly what I needed. The instruction is clear, compassionate, and deeply informed by the Viniyoga tradition. I gained practical tools for working with different bodies and abilities, learned mindful pacing.

This program helped me reconnect with the heart of yoga. The integration of philosophy, functional movement, and breathwork created a learning experience that felt both personal and transformative. I've grown not only as a teacher but also as a practitioner.
