My Vinyasa Practice: Mindful Living for Stress Reduction

Course program

Mindful Living for Stress Reduction is a self-paced continuing education course offered by My Vinyasa Practice. It blends evidence-informed mindfulness practices with the school’s yoga therapy lens, teaching practitioners how to recognize stress responses in themselves and their students and respond with calm, clarity, and balance.

This course is designed for yoga teachers, wellness practitioners, and mindfulness enthusiasts who want to deepen their understanding of stress, the nervous system, and trauma-informed practice. It is a continuing education program — best suited for those with an existing teaching or wellness practice — and is also accessible to students looking to deepen their own personal mindfulness practice.

The curriculum is built around the science of mindfulness and the physiology of stress. Students study cognitive reactivity, interoception and the mind-body connection, the body as messenger, and the physiology of the stress response, learning how to recognize signs of dysregulation in themselves and others.

The course also covers trauma-informed foundations, mindful communication, and the science of compassion. Practical modules cover morning and evening awareness rituals and the neuroscience of intention, giving students tools they can apply in daily life and bring into their teaching. Each topic combines pre-recorded lectures, ebooks, and one-on-one support so students can integrate the material at their own pace.

The course is led by Tara Cleven, a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) credentialed by the International Association of Yoga Therapists. My Vinyasa Practice was founded by Michelle Young, C-IAYT, and the school’s wider community spans over 60,000 international students.

The format is fully self-paced and remote. Students work through pre-recorded video lectures and ebooks at their own speed, with one-on-one support and weekly live support calls during business hours for questions and guidance. All required materials are included, and students receive lifetime access to the course content.

This Viniyoga training exceeded every expectation I had. I loved how each lesson emphasized personalization and adapting yoga to the individual. I now feel confident offering sequences that truly meet my students where they are.

As someone who wanted a more therapeutic approach to yoga, this training was exactly what I needed. The instruction is clear, compassionate, and deeply informed by the Viniyoga tradition. I gained practical tools for working with different bodies and abilities, learned mindful pacing.

This program helped me reconnect with the heart of yoga. The integration of philosophy, functional movement, and breathwork created a learning experience that felt both personal and transformative. I've grown not only as a teacher but also as a practitioner.
