My Vinyasa Practice: Restorative Yoga Certification

Course program

The Restorative Yoga Certification by My Vinyasa Practice is a self-paced online continuing education program approved for 40 CEUs through Yoga Alliance. It trains yoga teachers and wellness professionals to guide students into deep rest, exploring the philosophy and therapeutic benefits of stillness, prop-based sequencing, and comprehensive nervous system support.

This certification is designed for existing yoga teachers and wellness professionals who want to expand their teaching toolkit with restorative practice. It is well suited for those interested in working with students recovering from injury, supporting pregnancy, teaching seniors, or guiding students through stress recovery. Prior yoga teaching experience or comparable professional background is expected.

The curriculum covers the foundations of restorative yoga practice and teaching. Students learn restorative postures, the benefits of restorative yoga, and effective prop usage for supporting the body in deep rest. Sequencing principles are taught alongside injury prevention, with attention to adapting practices for different bodies and needs.

The program also addresses the deeper energetic and physiological layers of restorative practice. Topics include the vagus nerve and central nervous system, restorative yoga for seniors, restorative practices during pregnancy, and energetic blockages that arise in stillness. Students explore the philosophy and therapeutic dimensions of rest, supported by guided practices, reflection prompts, and real-world teaching demonstrations designed to help apply learning to live classes.

The program is guided by Michelle Young, a certified Yoga Therapist specializing in Cardiac, Cancer, Eating Recovery, and Behavioral Health. She is supported by Tara Cleven, an E-RYT 500 and C-IAYT certified yoga therapist.

The format is self-paced and remote, delivered through prerecorded lectures, ebooks, and downloadable course materials. Students receive lifetime access to all content and can begin at any time. Ongoing support is available through 1:1 mentorship and live support during business hours, including various weekly live calls for those who want real-time guidance.

This program helped me reconnect with the heart of yoga. The integration of philosophy, functional movement, and breathwork created a learning experience that felt both personal and transformative. I've grown not only as a teacher but also as a practitioner.
