My Vinyasa Practice: Self Coaching Certification

Course program

The Self-Coaching Certification by My Vinyasa Practice is a self-paced online training that blends ancient yogic philosophy with modern coaching psychology. Led by C-IAYT yoga therapist Michelle Young, the program is designed to help students navigate personal growth with clarity, resilience, and purpose while building practical tools they can carry into their own life or share with clients.

No prior credentials are required. The program is positioned for yoga teachers, wellness professionals, and growth-minded individuals who want to deepen their personal development while gaining tools to support others. Existing yoga teachers can apply the 20 YACEP CEUs toward their Yoga Alliance continuing education, while newcomers can take the certification as a standalone introduction to self-coaching.

The curriculum draws on evidence-based frameworks alongside the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita to explore the nature of the mind, behavior, and transformation. Topics include identifying core values, shifting limiting beliefs, regulating emotions, and aligning daily actions with intentions. Students work through self-assessment exercises, effective goal-setting techniques, and tools for building self-awareness and emotional intelligence.

The training also covers techniques for overcoming self-limiting beliefs, practical strategies for productivity, effective communication, and approaches to developing resilience and adaptability. Mindfulness and meditation practices are woven throughout, supported by experiential exercises, journaling prompts, guided meditations, and somatic tools. Together these elements form a holistic toolkit students can use to support their own growth or guide clients through meaningful change. The program is trauma-informed and inclusive, honoring both the physical and energetic body in line with My Vinyasa Practice’s broader teaching philosophy.

The training is led by Michelle Young, a C-IAYT yoga therapist and the founder of My Vinyasa Practice. Michelle specializes in cardiac, cancer, eating recovery, and behavioral health, and brings expertise in anatomy, physiology, movement science, and yoga philosophy. She is supported in the program by Tara Cleven, an E-RYT 500 and C-IAYT yoga therapist who also teaches at the school.

The format is self-paced and fully online, with a minimum completion time of about four weeks. Students get pre-recorded video lectures, e-books, written content, and PDF downloads, plus mentorship and one-on-one support. Live support is available during business hours, and various weekly live calls run alongside the curriculum. All required texts are included electronically, and students retain lifetime access to course materials.

This program helped me reconnect with the heart of yoga. The integration of philosophy, functional movement, and breathwork created a learning experience that felt both personal and transformative. I've grown not only as a teacher but also as a practitioner.
