My Vinyasa Practice: Subtle Bodies of Yoga Course

Course program

The Subtle Bodies of Yoga Course by My Vinyasa Practice is a self-paced continuing education program covering yoga’s energetic anatomy. It explores how the koshas, chakras, nadis, and prana vayus shape physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, blending classical yogic philosophy with practical application for teachers. The course is Yoga Alliance approved and accounts for 40 continuing education units.

This course is designed for yoga teachers, wellness workers, and dedicated practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of energetic anatomy. No prerequisites are listed and the material welcomes all levels. The CE hours make it particularly useful for Yoga Alliance registered teachers looking to expand their teaching toolkit, while anyone curious about subtle-body practice can study at their own pace.

The curriculum covers the major frameworks of yoga’s energetic anatomy. You will study the Panchamaya Kosha system — the five sheaths or kosha bodies that organize the human experience — and the seven chakras as energy centers within the body. The course examines the kleshas, the foundational obstacles described in classical yoga philosophy, and how they relate to energetic blockages.

Beyond these core systems, the training looks at psychic energy, lines of energy, marmas, meridians, nadis, and the prana vayus that govern the movement of life force. The material connects theory with application — students learn how to identify energetic imbalances and integrate koshas, chakras, and pranic systems into their classes with confidence. The framing throughout is the mind-body-breath connection and how inner awareness shapes both personal practice and the way teachers hold space for others.

The course is guided by Michelle Young, a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) who specializes in cardiac, cancer, eating recovery, and behavioral health applications of yoga. Michelle is supported by Tara Cleven, an E-RYT 500 and C-IAYT, and Maire McGlasson, an E-RYT 500. The teaching team brings clinical, therapeutic, and traditional yoga training to the energetic anatomy material.

The course is fully self-paced and remote, with a minimum two-week pace and lifetime access to materials. Students work through pre-recorded video lectures, asana practices with Michelle Young, ebooks, written content, and PDF downloads. One-on-one mentorship and live support during business hours are included, alongside weekly live support calls and the MVP School App for iOS and Android.

As someone who wanted a more therapeutic approach to yoga, this training was exactly what I needed. The instruction is clear, compassionate, and deeply informed by the Viniyoga tradition. I gained practical tools for working with different bodies and abilities, learned mindful pacing.

This program helped me reconnect with the heart of yoga. The integration of philosophy, functional movement, and breathwork created a learning experience that felt both personal and transformative. I've grown not only as a teacher but also as a practitioner.
