My Vinyasa Practice: The Art of Sequencing

Course program

The Art of Sequencing is a continuing education course from My Vinyasa Practice, designed for yoga teachers who want to move beyond formulaic class planning. The training explores how to craft purposeful sequences across multiple traditional styles — Vinyasa, Power, Hatha, Viniyoga, Yin, and Restorative — grounded in biomechanics, energetic flow, and thematic class design.

This course is for credentialed yoga teachers who want to expand their sequencing toolkit and build more intentional, accessible classes for diverse student needs. The Yoga Alliance-approved CE format assumes an existing teaching certification, so it suits practicing instructors adding range to their repertoire rather than aspiring teachers just starting their journey.

The training covers sequencing principles for six core yoga styles. You’ll study how to design Vinyasa flows that build rhythm and breath integration, Power sequences that emphasize strength and stamina, and Hatha sequencing rooted in alignment and steady holds. The curriculum then moves into Viniyoga, where you’ll learn to adapt sequences to individual student needs, and explores Yin and Restorative class design for slower, more therapeutic practice.

Beyond style-specific technique, the course examines the underlying frameworks that make a sequence work: biomechanical progression, energetic arc, breath pacing, and thematic integration. You’ll learn how to honor anatomical safety while building toward peak postures, how to weave intention into class structure, and how to adapt sequences for different student levels, body types, and goals. The training emphasizes class design as a teaching skill, not a formula.

The program is led by Michelle Young, founder of My Vinyasa Practice and a C-IAYT Certified Yoga Therapist specializing in Cardiac, Cancer, Eating Recovery, and Behavioral Health. She is supported by Tara Cleven, E-RYT 500 / C-IAYT, and Maire McGlasson, E-RYT 500. Both senior teachers contribute to MVP’s continuing education programs.

The course is fully self-paced and remote, with all content delivered through pre-recorded video lectures, asana practices, and downloadable PDFs and ebooks. Students can register anytime and progress at their own pace, with a minimum suggested commitment of three weeks. One-on-one mentorship and live weekly support calls are available during business hours, and all materials remain accessible through MVP’s school app for ongoing reference.

This Viniyoga training exceeded every expectation I had. I loved how each lesson emphasized personalization and adapting yoga to the individual. I now feel confident offering sequences that truly meet my students where they are.

As someone who wanted a more therapeutic approach to yoga, this training was exactly what I needed. The instruction is clear, compassionate, and deeply informed by the Viniyoga tradition. I gained practical tools for working with different bodies and abilities, learned mindful pacing.

This program helped me reconnect with the heart of yoga. The integration of philosophy, functional movement, and breathwork created a learning experience that felt both personal and transformative. I've grown not only as a teacher but also as a practitioner.
