My Vinyasa Practice: Therapeutic Yoga for Athletes

Course program

Peak Performance: Therapeutics of Yoga for Athletes is a specialized, self-paced yoga therapy training from My Vinyasa Practice, part of MVP’s On Demand Yoga Therapy library. The four-week mini series is designed to support athletes and active individuals in optimizing performance, enhancing recovery, and building long-term resilience through evidence-based yoga, breathwork, and mindfulness practices.

No prior credential is required to enroll. The course welcomes athletes looking to extend their training, coaches who want to support clients beyond the gym, yoga teachers integrating therapeutic work, and wellness professionals exploring movement and recovery. Anyone curious about how yoga therapy can complement athletic preparation, injury prevention, and mental focus will find practical tools they can apply at their own pace.

The training focuses on the practical application of yoga therapy for athletic populations. You’ll work through targeted movement, breathwork, and mindfulness techniques aimed at improving flexibility, strength, mental focus, and recovery. The curriculum draws on nervous system regulation, mobility work, and mindset training as a complement to athletic conditioning, with a clinical lens grounded in My Vinyasa Practice’s trauma-informed and inclusive approach.

You’ll learn how to use yoga, mindfulness, and breathing techniques to optimize training and recovery, how to prevent common injuries through mindful movement, and how to support both the physical and energetic body. The course also explores how to restore balance, refine focus, and apply yoga as a sustainable tool for peak performance — whether the goal is endurance, faster recovery, or longevity in sport. All materials are available as pre-recorded video lectures, written content, and PDF downloads.

The course is led by Maire McGlasson, an E-RYT 500 and YACEP senior teacher at My Vinyasa Practice. MVP’s broader curriculum is developed by founder Michelle Young, C-IAYT, a certified yoga therapist whose background spans biochemistry, education, functional movement, and yoga philosophy. Students also receive 1:1 support and access to weekly live calls during business hours.

The format is fully self-paced and pre-recorded. Once enrolled, you can register anytime and progress through the four-week mini series at your own speed, with lifetime access to all course materials. Content is delivered through pre-recorded video lectures, recordings of previously live sessions, and PDF downloads. Ongoing 1:1 support and various weekly live calls are available during business hours.

This Viniyoga training exceeded every expectation I had. I loved how each lesson emphasized personalization and adapting yoga to the individual. I now feel confident offering sequences that truly meet my students where they are.

As someone who wanted a more therapeutic approach to yoga, this training was exactly what I needed. The instruction is clear, compassionate, and deeply informed by the Viniyoga tradition. I gained practical tools for working with different bodies and abilities, learned mindful pacing.

This program helped me reconnect with the heart of yoga. The integration of philosophy, functional movement, and breathwork created a learning experience that felt both personal and transformative. I've grown not only as a teacher but also as a practitioner.
