My Vinyasa Practice: Therapeutic Yoga for Joint Health & Aging

Course program

Therapeutic Yoga for Joint Health & Aging is a self-paced, on-demand course from My Vinyasa Practice, an Austin-based Yoga Alliance Approved school led by yoga therapist Michelle Young. The program approaches joint care through a yoga therapy lens, blending modern science on mobility and aging with the trauma-informed, holistic teaching style MVP is known for.

No prior yoga experience is required. The course is designed for adults seeking to support joint mobility, ease stiffness, and stay active as they age — including those recovering from injury or managing arthritis. It is also a useful resource for wellness professionals and yoga teachers who want gentle, therapeutic tools to bring into their own work with clients.

The course centers on four core areas of practice: improving range of motion and joint stability, reducing pain and supporting circulation, building strength safely and mindfully, and supporting longevity through nervous system regulation. These topics are taught through mindful movement, breathwork, joint awareness, and somatic inquiry rather than purely physical exercise.

Rather than treating joint care as an isolated mechanical problem, the program offers an integrative approach that combines modern science on joint health and mobility with the holistic perspective of yoga therapy. Lessons are delivered through pre-recorded video lectures, asana practices led by founder Michelle Young, written content, and PDF downloads. The teaching style is trauma-informed and inclusive, honoring both the physical and energetic body, and emphasizes adapting the practice to each student’s body rather than forcing the body into a shape.

The course is guided by Maire McGlasson, an E-RYT 500 and YACEP-credentialed senior teacher at My Vinyasa Practice. Asana practices in the course are led by MVP founder Michelle Young, C-IAYT, a certified yoga therapist who specializes in anatomy, physiology, movement science, and yoga philosophy.

The format is fully self-paced. After enrolling, students receive lifetime access to pre-recorded video lectures, asana practices, written content, and all required PDF materials, with no fixed start date or schedule. Weekly live support calls and one-on-one support are offered during business hours for students who want guidance. Course materials are also available on the go through the MVP School App.

As someone who wanted a more therapeutic approach to yoga, this training was exactly what I needed. The instruction is clear, compassionate, and deeply informed by the Viniyoga tradition. I gained practical tools for working with different bodies and abilities, learned mindful pacing.

This program helped me reconnect with the heart of yoga. The integration of philosophy, functional movement, and breathwork created a learning experience that felt both personal and transformative. I've grown not only as a teacher but also as a practitioner.
