My Vinyasa Practice: Yoga Nidra Certification

Course program

The Yoga Nidra Certification by My Vinyasa Practice is a Yoga Alliance-accredited continuing education course in the practice of yogic conscious rest. Blending classical Yoga Nidra technique with contemporary insights into trauma, neuroplasticity, and the nervous system, it prepares yoga teachers and wellness professionals to guide deeply restorative sessions for their own students.

This certification is built for yoga teachers and wellness professionals ready to add Yoga Nidra to their offerings. Existing Yoga Alliance-registered teachers can apply the 40 hours toward their continuing education requirement. It also suits therapists, healers, and practitioners seeking a structured framework for guiding deep rest in clinical, group, or private settings.

The curriculum moves from foundations into the deeper layers of Yoga Nidra practice. Students study the ethics of teaching Yoga Nidra, the difference between direct and abstract association, and the science of trauma and neuroplasticity. The course covers techniques to regulate and tone the nervous system, build resilience, and guide students through body scanning, breath awareness, and intention setting.

Further study unfolds across Yoga Nidra and the Panchamaya Kosha system, enlightenment and awareness, self-awareness and the mind-body connection, and trauma-informed Yoga Nidra scripts. Students also work through how to release stress and tension in their guidance, cultivate the conditions for conscious sleep in their students, and use Yoga Nidra as a tool for emotional processing, mental clarity, and inner peace.

The program is guided by Michelle Young, a certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) specializing in cardiac, cancer, eating recovery, and behavioral health, supported by Tara Cleven (E-RYT 500, C-IAYT). Michelle is the founder of My Vinyasa Practice and currently serves Seton Hospital as their Cardiac Yoga Therapist.

The format is fully self-paced and remote. Students work through pre-recorded video lectures, asana practices, ebooks, written content, and PDF downloads, with lifetime access to all materials. A composition notebook is needed for journaling. Live support is available during business hours through weekly live calls, with 1:1 support and mentorship included. The minimum completion window is six weeks.

This Viniyoga training exceeded every expectation I had. I loved how each lesson emphasized personalization and adapting yoga to the individual. I now feel confident offering sequences that truly meet my students where they are.

As someone who wanted a more therapeutic approach to yoga, this training was exactly what I needed. The instruction is clear, compassionate, and deeply informed by the Viniyoga tradition. I gained practical tools for working with different bodies and abilities, learned mindful pacing.

This program helped me reconnect with the heart of yoga. The integration of philosophy, functional movement, and breathwork created a learning experience that felt both personal and transformative. I've grown not only as a teacher but also as a practitioner.
