My Vinyasa Practice: Yoga Therapy for Anxiety

Course program

Yoga Therapy for Anxiety by My Vinyasa Practice is a self-paced online course offering a trauma-informed, evidence-informed approach to easing anxiety through yoga. It blends functional anatomy, applied neuroscience, and traditional yogic tools — pranayama, meditation, and mindful movement — to calm the nervous system, regulate emotional responses, and restore inner balance.

This mini course is open to anyone seeking practical tools to manage stress and quiet the mind, with no prior experience required. It is designed to support three groups in particular: individuals navigating anxiety in daily life, yoga teachers who want to bring therapeutic applications into their classes, and wellness professionals looking for accessible techniques to share with the people they serve.

The curriculum moves through the foundations of yoga and a clear look at how anxiety lives in the body, before turning to specific therapeutic tools. You will work with breathwork techniques, mindfulness and meditations, asanas chosen for anxiety relief, and yoga nidra as a guided practice for deep rest.

From there, the course covers techniques for stress reduction, emotional regulation, and mindset changes, and shows how to shape a personalized practice rather than a one-size-fits-all routine. Each section ties traditional yogic wisdom to modern clinical framing — drawing on functional anatomy and applied neuroscience — so the practices feel grounded and applicable rather than abstract. The aim is a sustainable, repeatable toolkit you can return to when anxiety rises.

The program is guided by Michelle Young, founder of My Vinyasa Practice and a C-IAYT certified yoga therapist specializing in Cardiac, Cancer, Eating Recovery, and Behavioral Health. She is supported by Tara Cleven, E-RYT 500 and C-IAYT, a senior teacher at MVP who leads continuing education on mindfulness, the stress response, and nervous-system regulation.

The format is self-paced and fully remote. Students work through prerecorded lectures, asana practices, written content, and PDF downloads, with all course materials and ebooks included in digital format. Live support is available during business hours, alongside weekly live calls with the MVP community. The course is designed to be completed in a minimum of two weeks, but students set their own rhythm and revisit material as needed.

This Viniyoga training exceeded every expectation I had. I loved how each lesson emphasized personalization and adapting yoga to the individual. I now feel confident offering sequences that truly meet my students where they are.

As someone who wanted a more therapeutic approach to yoga, this training was exactly what I needed. The instruction is clear, compassionate, and deeply informed by the Viniyoga tradition. I gained practical tools for working with different bodies and abilities, learned mindful pacing.

This program helped me reconnect with the heart of yoga. The integration of philosophy, functional movement, and breathwork created a learning experience that felt both personal and transformative. I've grown not only as a teacher but also as a practitioner.
