My Vinyasa Practice: Yoga Therapy for Burn Out

Course program

Yoga Therapy for When You’re Burnt Out is a self-paced online mini course by My Vinyasa Practice, part of the school’s monthly Yoga Therapy Mini Series. It explores the root causes and holistic impacts of burnout — physical, mental, emotional, and energetic — through a trauma-informed lens that blends evidence-based tools with yogic wisdom.

This course is open to anyone, with no prior credentials or experience required. It is designed for yoga teachers, wellness practitioners, and individuals navigating chronic stress, overwork, or compassion fatigue. It also suits professionals supporting clients through exhaustion and personal practitioners seeking accessible tools to recover energy and rebuild nervous-system balance.

The curriculum centers on the physical, emotional, and energetic dimensions of burnout, and the practices that help reset and restore. Students explore how to regulate the nervous system, reorient the body toward rest and renewal, and use gentle asana, breathwork, and mindfulness techniques to slow down.

Drawing on both modern evidence-based tools and time-honored yogic wisdom, the course examines the root causes of burnout and its holistic impacts — chronic stress, emotional exhaustion, and compassion fatigue. Practical techniques are taught from the perspective of a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), so students leave with a sustainable toolkit for finding rest, restoring resilience, and reconnecting with the body. The format combines pre-recorded lectures and asana practices with written content and PDF downloads.

The course is guided by Tara Cleven, E-RYT 500 and C-IAYT. My Vinyasa Practice is a Yoga Alliance Approved School founded by Michelle Young, C-IAYT Yoga Therapist, whose background spans biochemistry, education, functional movement, and therapeutic yoga, and serves a community of over 60,000 international students.

The format is fully self-paced and pre-recorded. Students can register anytime and work at their own pace, with lifetime access to all course materials. Content includes pre-recorded video lectures, asana practices with Michelle, written content, and PDF downloads, with all required materials included. Live support is available during business hours, alongside various weekly live calls and one-on-one support.

This Viniyoga training exceeded every expectation I had. I loved how each lesson emphasized personalization and adapting yoga to the individual. I now feel confident offering sequences that truly meet my students where they are.

As someone who wanted a more therapeutic approach to yoga, this training was exactly what I needed. The instruction is clear, compassionate, and deeply informed by the Viniyoga tradition. I gained practical tools for working with different bodies and abilities, learned mindful pacing.

This program helped me reconnect with the heart of yoga. The integration of philosophy, functional movement, and breathwork created a learning experience that felt both personal and transformative. I've grown not only as a teacher but also as a practitioner.
