My Vinyasa Practice: Yoga Therapy for Perimenopause

Course program

Yoga Therapy for Perimenopause is an on-demand course from My Vinyasa Practice designed to support women through the physical, emotional, and energetic transitions of midlife. Led by Michelle Young, C-IAYT, it blends gentle yoga, breathwork, and mindfulness into a trauma-informed, integrative approach to perimenopause.

This course is open to women experiencing perimenopause personally, and to yoga teachers, therapists, and wellness professionals who want to support clients through midlife transitions. No prior credential is required to enroll. The material is approachable for newer practitioners while still useful for working professionals adding a women’s-health focus to their offerings.

Students learn to navigate the perimenopausal transition through gentle yoga, breathwork, and mindfulness, with practices aimed at easing common symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and fatigue. The curriculum draws on Michelle Young’s clinical background in anatomy, physiology, movement science, and yoga philosophy to deliver tools that support hormonal balance, emotional resilience, and a steadier nervous system.

Coursework covers tailored yoga sequences, restorative practices, and breathwork suited to midlife bodies, alongside mindfulness techniques for managing stress and improving sleep. Students explore how to reconnect with the body during physical and emotional change, build daily routines that support natural rhythms, and apply yogic frameworks to a phase of life that often goes under-supported in mainstream wellness.

The entire program is guided by Michelle Young, founder of My Vinyasa Practice and a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) and E-RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance. Michelle specializes in cardiac, cancer, eating recovery, and behavioral health applications of yoga therapy, and brings expertise in anatomy, physiology, movement science, and yoga philosophy to the curriculum.

The format is hybrid: students access pre-recorded video lectures and asana practices on demand, work at their own pace, and have lifetime access to all materials. Live support is available during business hours, with weekly live calls and one-on-one coaching included alongside the recorded content. Recordings from previous live sessions are available after each round of live facilitation.

As someone who wanted a more therapeutic approach to yoga, this training was exactly what I needed. The instruction is clear, compassionate, and deeply informed by the Viniyoga tradition. I gained practical tools for working with different bodies and abilities, learned mindful pacing.

This program helped me reconnect with the heart of yoga. The integration of philosophy, functional movement, and breathwork created a learning experience that felt both personal and transformative. I've grown not only as a teacher but also as a practitioner.
