National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF): Kettlebell Coach

Course program

The Kettlebell Coach program by the National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF) is a self-paced online specialty course that awards the NCSF Kettlebell Coach credential. It is designed to expand a fitness professional’s coaching toolkit with structured kettlebell programming for both general fitness and performance-based training.

This program is built for working fitness professionals. NCSF recommends that students hold a Personal Trainer Certification or equivalent before enrolling, though it is not a strict prerequisite. It suits trainers, strength coaches, and group instructors who want to add kettlebell coaching to their service offering and reach a broader clientele.

The curriculum is organized into nine lessons covering the origin of kettlebell training, its foundational elements, and the synergy between strength, power, mobility, and balance that kettlebell work develops. Students study the mechanics of the kettlebell, muscle movement patterns, and how to teach the core lifts safely.

The program then moves into kettlebell movements and progressions, including structural lifts that build stability, and how to instruct and progress exercises with clients. Lessons on programming cover how to design kettlebell-based sessions for fitness goals and for performance-oriented athletes. Throughout, the course emphasizes error correction so coaches can spot and fix faulty movement patterns in real time.

The format is fully self-paced. Students access video lessons, written notes, and a quiz for each of the nine lessons through the NCSF online learning platform. Quizzes can be retaken as many times as needed to pass each section. Payment plans are available at checkout through Affirm financing.
