National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF): Master Trainer Program

Course program

The Master Trainer Program by the National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF) combines three separate NCCA-accredited certifications — Certified Personal Trainer, Sport Nutrition Specialist, and Certified Strength Coach — into a single credential pathway. It is designed to build a comprehensive skill set across general fitness, performance nutrition, and athletic strength and conditioning.

The program is open to both newcomers and existing fitness professionals — no prior certification is required to enroll. It suits career-minded trainers who want to work across multiple populations, including general clients, athletes, and fitness competitors, and who want broader employability in health clubs, athletic settings, and high school, college, or professional sports environments.

Students complete three full certification curricula. The Certified Personal Trainer track covers applied exercise science and biomechanics, health, fitness and performance assessment, foundational and applied nutritional science, and advanced program design. The Sport Nutrition Specialist track develops expertise in performance nutrition for health, fitness, and sport. The Certified Strength Coach track addresses Olympic lifts, corrective exercise, sport- and position-specific program design, advanced assessment protocols, and speed, agility, and quickness coaching.

Across the three programs, students learn to assess clients and athletes, design progressive training programs, instruct movement safely, and apply nutrition strategies to support performance. The curriculum is positioned to exceed the content of many college and university programs in the field.

Delivery is fully self-paced through the NCSF Easy Learning System, the school’s online platform. Each of the three certifications is studied independently and includes digital textbooks, instructional videos, lesson notes, question banks, digital flash cards, and review quizzes. Optional hard-copy textbooks are available. Students take each NCCA-accredited certification exam from home or at a testing center when ready, with one year of membership included.
