Online Yoga School: Accessible Yoga Teacher Certification

Course program

The Accessible Yoga Teacher Certification by Online Yoga School trains yoga teachers to lead classes that include larger body types and create more inclusive yoga spaces. Branded as the All-Inclusive Yoga Teacher Training, the program is built around the principle that yoga poses are not one-size-fits-all and must be adapted to suit the body in front of you.

The course is open to anyone. It is designed for yoga teachers who want to make their classes welcoming for students in larger bodies and earn 20 hours of continuing education, and it is also open to people who want to learn how to adapt postures for their own bodies. No prior credential is required to enroll, though the CE hours are only meaningful to existing certified teachers.

The training defines what accessible yoga is, why it matters, and the common challenges practitioners in larger bodies face on the mat. A core thread is body-friendly language and cueing — the words and tone teachers use to make every student feel welcome rather than corrected. The curriculum covers when to modify a posture versus when to offer an alternative entirely, and walks through adaptations for seated, kneeling, prone and reclined, and standing asanas one category at a time.

Beyond physical adaptation, the program covers injury prevention, how to teach accessible yoga in an online format, and marketing strategies for accessible yoga classes so graduates can actually fill a roster after they certify. Enrollment also includes three bonus practices led by LaToya Cooper — a 25-minute slow flow for calmness, a 30-minute yin yoga for self-care, and a loving kindness guided meditation.

The program is led by LaToya Cooper, the lead trainer for this certification. She holds E-RYT 200, RYT-500, and YACEP credentials with Yoga Alliance, and is a certified meditation and mindfulness teacher. She is the founder of Asanas & Wellness, where she shares yoga and holistic wellness practices, and completed her 200-hour teacher training at the Yoga and Ayurveda Center in 2020.

The format is self-paced and fully online. All content is pre-recorded and accessed through Online Yoga School’s Thinkific-based course platform, with an intro video on the course landing page and a structured sequence of teaching modules and demonstration practices once enrolled. There are no required live sessions and no fixed start dates — students enroll, work through the material at their own pace, and complete the practical and theoretical components on their own schedule.
