Online Yoga School: Children's Yoga Teacher Training Online

Course program

The 95-Hour Children’s Yoga Teacher Training Online by Lifted Lotus Online Yoga School (the original Online Yoga School) is a Yoga Alliance Registered Children’s Yoga School program that prepares graduates to teach yoga and mindfulness to kids from preschool through high school. The training is grounded in accessibility and authentic kids-adapted practice.

There are no prerequisites — anyone can enroll, from career changers and classroom teachers to parents and existing wellness practitioners who want to bring yoga to children. To register the credential as RCYT with Yoga Alliance after graduating, students must already hold an RYT-200; otherwise the 95 hours can be applied as YACEP continuing-education hours.

The curriculum is organized into nine topics of study. Yoga Philosophy for Kids covers the Yamas, Niyamas, Yoga Sutras, and ethical considerations adapted for children. Children’s Yoga Anatomy and Physiology examines the kids brain, skeletal and muscular systems, the spine, digestive system, the senses, and teen anatomy. Childhood Development addresses developmental stages, brain-based learning, safe-space engagement, and boundaries. Breathwork for Kids teaches energizing, relaxing, and focus-building practices.

Kids Yoga Postures includes 120+ poses across warm-ups, backbends, hip openers and forward folds, standing poses, arm supports, core poses and twists, inversions, and relaxation. Additional modules cover Kids Yoga Games and Partner Poses, class sequencing with 50 themed class plans, Kids Mudra, Mantra and Meditation, and the Business of Kids Yoga (teaching in person, teaching online, and advertising).

The program is founded and led by Steph Ball-Mitchell, who holds E-RYT-500, RPYT, RCYT, YACEP, and C-IAYT credentials and works as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has over 25 years of experience in yoga and movement, has trained with Maty Ezraty, Nancy Candea, and Chris Loebsack, and previously served on the Yoga Alliance Education Committee.

The training is 100% self-paced and entirely online, with no required log-in times and lifetime access to all materials. Students move through video lessons, downloadable manuals, and quizzes on their own schedule, completing short assignments and a final project of teaching a children’s yoga class. Optional live Zoom study groups and a private community provide connection and practice teaching.
