The curriculum is organised around the three dimensions of functional breathing that sit at the core of the Oxygen Advantage method: biochemistry, or the body’s tolerance to carbon dioxide; biomechanics, or whether breathing happens from the diaphragm or the upper chest; and cadence, slowing the respiratory rate to between 4.5 and 6.5 breaths per minute.
From this foundation, students work through 40 step-by-step video lessons that apply the techniques to anxiety, racing thoughts, and panic. The course covers how everyday breathing patterns affect sleep, why anxiety can make mindfulness difficult and how to access mental calm anyway, the connection between hormonal fluctuations and cyclical anxiety experienced as PMS, and concrete techniques to stop a panic attack in its tracks. Self-help strategies for deepening understanding of the mind and building emotional resilience are integrated throughout. A downloadable PDF of Patrick’s book Anxiety-Free, Naturally accompanies the videos as a practical reference.
