Oxygen Advantage: Breathing Through Menopause

Course program

Breathing Through Menopause by Oxygen Advantage is a self-paced online course that applies the Oxygen Advantage functional breathing method to the hormonal, nervous system, and sleep changes of perimenopause and menopause. The programme is built around light, slow, and deep breathing as a practical tool for symptom management during this life transition.

This course is open to any woman in perimenopause or menopause who wants to improve sleep, reduce symptoms, support breathing efficiency, and maintain movement and fitness. No prior breathwork experience is needed, and fitness level, background, or existing practice do not matter. It suits women dealing with hot flashes, disrupted sleep, anxiety, breathlessness, or reduced training capacity.

The curriculum is built around the three fundamentals of functional breathing taught by Oxygen Advantage: biochemistry (sensitivity to carbon dioxide), biomechanics (diaphragmatic versus upper-chest breathing), and cadence (slowing the respiratory rate to between 4.5 and 6.5 breaths per minute). These principles are applied directly to the realities of the menopausal transition.

Seven required modules walk students through the stages of a woman’s hormonal life, the fundamentals of breathing, the menopause and brain connection, the biochemistry of breathing, the link between menopause and breathing difficulties, the changes experienced during menopausal transition and sleep, and how to navigate menopause through the autonomic nervous system. Students also receive two downloadable chapters on female hormones and breathing from Patrick McKeown’s book The Breathing Cure.

The course is led by two Master Oxygen Advantage Instructors: Fleur Conway, a coach specializing in pelvic floor health, posture re-education, and breathwork, who is also a certified menopause coach, Buteyko certified, and a Low Pressure Fitness Trainer; and Maria Dobos, a hormonal yoga specialist and hormone expert with over a decade in wellness, based in Ubud, Bali. The Oxygen Advantage method itself was developed by founder Patrick McKeown.

The course is fully self-paced and delivered online through a step-by-step learning portal. Students gain immediate access on purchase to seven video modules they can watch at their own speed. Lifetime access means the techniques can be revisited as the body changes or new phases of the transition emerge. There are no live sessions, no fixed schedule, and no special equipment required.
