Primal Health Coach Institute: Coaching Expert Certification Course

Course program

The Coaching Expert Certification Course by Primal Health Coach Institute is a self-paced online program focused on the art and science of behavior-change coaching. Built around a client-centered approach, it strengthens the communication, listening, and questioning skills any health or fitness coach needs to guide clients through lasting transformation rather than information transfer.

This course is for health coaches, fitness coaches, and aspiring coaches who want to deepen the coaching half of their practice. No prerequisites are stated and the curriculum starts from scope-of-practice fundamentals, so it suits newcomers as well as established coaches adding a specialization. It is offered as a standalone alternative to Primal Health Coach Institute’s flagship Health Coach and Fitness Coach certifications.

The curriculum spans four chapters plus four coaching practicums. Chapter 1, Scope of Practice, covers the regulations for operating legally as a coach in your region. Chapter 2, Coaching Foundations, addresses the role of the coach as a collaborative leader, how to reframe imposter syndrome, and the language of self-confidence. Chapter 3, The Art and Science of Health Coaching, focuses on structuring sessions, asking effective questions, and motivating transformation on a mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual level. Chapter 4, Advanced Coaching Layers, draws on advanced coaching techniques to help clients navigate emotional, behavioral, mental, spiritual, and relational issues.

Four coaching practicum assignments thread through the program — students work on understanding their scope, reframing imposter syndrome, coaching role-play, and case studies. Live coaching demos from Master Primal Health Coaches and live monthly webinars provide ongoing examples of skilled coaching practice.

The course is led by Erin Power, Coaching and Course Director at Primal Health Coach Institute, a certified health coach and National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach through the NBHWC. Bestselling author and coach Christine Hassler — host of the podcast “Over It and On with It” and a spiritual psychologist who helped develop the coaching component of PHCI’s flagship programs — delivers the advanced coaching techniques module.

The format is fully self-paced and online. Students study on their own schedule from any device, with lifetime access to the course materials and the Primal Health Coach Institute community. The program is supplemented by live monthly webinars, access to a private PHCI Facebook community, and live coaching demos. Pre-recorded chapters and downloadable resources form the core curriculum.
