Primal Health Coach Institute: Master Coach Certification

Course program

The Master Health Coach Certification by Primal Health Coach Institute is a National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) approved program that prepares aspiring coaches to sit for the NBC-HWC board exam. It combines ancestral, evolutionary-health nutrition science with structured coaching methodology and practical business training.

This certification is designed for aspiring health coaches who want a single, comprehensive program that covers nutrition, coaching, and business skills under one roof. No prior credentials, clinical background, or coaching experience are required to enroll. It suits career changers, fitness professionals expanding into coaching, and anyone who wants to qualify for national board certification through one approved pathway.

The program is delivered through four sequential courses. The Primal Health and Nutrition Expert Certification covers fourteen chapters of evolutionary-health and nutrition fundamentals, from gene expression and fat adaptation to primal foods, primal movement, and lifestyle programming. The Coaching Expert Certification covers scope of practice, coaching foundations, the art and science of health coaching, and advanced coaching layers, with practicums on imposter syndrome, role-play, and case studies.

The Business Expert Certification covers niche definition, product creation, liability, marketing, and sales and enrollment, plus a guest bonus on legal protection for health coaches. The Advanced Coaching Expert Certification runs as a twelve-week live cohort with twenty-four 90-minute webinars taking students through goal-setting, discovery and enrollment, the client-centered relationship, coaching presence, active listening, client emotion, empowerment, releasing clients, and education on chronic illness and health behaviors.

The program is led by Coaching and Course Director Erin Power, who facilitates the live teaching modules and has worked with more than 500 individual clients since 2004. Co-founder Mark Sisson, the bestselling ancestral-health author behind Mark’s Daily Apple, shaped the school’s nutrition curriculum. Associate Instructor Chloe Maleski, a mental performance coach and former Division I athlete at Duke, supports coaching instruction.

The format is hybrid. The first three courses are self-paced online: video lessons, written chapters, exercises, business-development projects, and final exams that students complete in their own time. The fourth course, the Advanced Coaching Expert Certification, runs as a twelve-week live cohort offered each February and September with twice-weekly 90-minute webinars facilitated by Erin Power. Graded peer-to-peer coaching practice and faculty feedback are part of the live cohort.
