Reconnect Breath: Breathwork Instructor Certification

Course program

The Breathwork Instructor Certification by Reconnect Breath is a 45-hour IPHM-accredited training that prepares students to facilitate breathwork sessions for individuals, groups, and corporate wellness settings. The program blends functional breathing science with trauma-informed facilitation, grounded in founder Kevin Connelly’s work on nervous system regulation and the physiology of stress, anxiety, and addiction.

The training is for complete beginners and experienced practitioners, including aspiring breathwork instructors, yoga teachers, coaches, therapists, fitness professionals, and addiction recovery specialists who want to add breathwork to their existing practice or build a new facilitation practice. No prior certification is required.

The curriculum is structured around four pillars. Regulation covers breath assessment, functional breathing, and anatomy across eight modules. Intervention applies breathwork to stress, addiction, and mental health across seven modules. Activation focuses on immunity, energy, and lung capacity across four modules. Facilitation teaches session guidance and trauma-informed practices across five modules.

Students work through more than 30 content modules and 40+ video lectures, learning 18 distinct breathing exercises. The program draws on HRV research and stress physiology rather than clinical diagnosis, emphasizing how breath protocols shift the nervous system from stress states into coherence.

Supporting materials include a 100-plus-page instructor manual, pre-built audio tracks, worksheets, and access to Reconnect’s custom biofeedback technology and breath assessment tools. Five bonus modules round out the core curriculum.

The program is led by Kevin Connelly, founder of Reconnect Breath and certified through the Oxygen Advantage, The Whole Health Project, and Peak Flow. Kevin has been mentored by breath researcher James Nestor and the 8th Chokyong Palga Rinpoche. Guest instructors include Brittny Sciarra, a myofunctional therapist, and Tom Granger, founder of Aria Breath.

Two delivery options are available for the same curriculum. The self-paced track offers lifetime access to all modules plus regular live community calls, a private instructor group, and two one-on-one mentoring calls with Kevin. The live cohort track follows an eight-week schedule with scheduled group sessions. Both paths include the full 45 hours of training and lead to the same certification.
