Santosha Yoga Institute: Online Children’s + Teen’s Yoga Teacher Training

Course program

The Online Children’s + Teen’s Yoga Teacher Training by Santosha Yoga Institute is a 30-hour self-paced course that prepares students to share yoga with young people. Built around the Santosha approach to yoga and teaching, it covers age-appropriate asana, breathwork, games, and class design for both children and teenagers.

This training is open to anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of Kids and Teens Yoga, whether they already teach yoga or not. No prior credential is required. The school describes it as especially suited to existing yoga teachers, parents, schoolteachers, youth workers, and child psychologists looking to add this skill set to their work with young people.

The curriculum is split across six modules. Module 1 covers safe and accessible Kids and Teens yoga teaching — postures, breathwork, simple meditation, and games to cultivate resilience, calm, and confidence. Module 2 develops fun and play in class, role-play from a child’s perspective, planning for shorter attention spans, and adapting poses to different ages. Module 3 turns the skill set into a teaching specialization in Children’s or Teen’s yoga as a career. Module 4 focuses on mental wellbeing, with practical tools to help students cope with daily stress, exam pressure, and the transition into adulthood.

The training also explores yoga specifically for teens, including teen-appropriate asana, partner yoga and group work, pranayama and meditation, yogic philosophy, and how to sequence a class for teenagers. Module 5 covers creating trust and connection with young students through games and shared practice. Module 6 widens the lens to parents, schoolteachers, and youth workers, with tools for building calm and resilience in any setting that involves children.

The course is led by Thia Meuthia, a long-standing member of the Santosha Yoga Institute team. The school describes her as the natural choice for the Children’s and Teen’s program because of her caring energy and her commitment to sharing yoga with the next generation of yogis and their teachers. Santosha Yoga Institute has 17+ years of training experience and has qualified more than 16,000 yoga teachers worldwide.

The course is delivered fully online and is completely self-paced. Students work through six video-based modules with an accompanying downloadable PDF manual and Kids Yoga teacher training handbook. The school notes that the program can be completed in roughly three intensive days or taken more part-time. The format requires no specific tech beyond an internet-connected device, and there are no scheduled live sessions.

I held my workshop on Saturday afternoon. It was a practice run through with my husband to see how the format went and how I went! I absolutely loved it, and so did my husband. Overall, doing the practice run through was great as I now feel confident to advertise and run the workshop for a small group of people! Thank you so much for sharing all of your experience, knowledge and wisdom. I would never have had the confidence or the knowledge to pursue this without you.

The online material was so thorough and informative that I never felt I was lost or missing something. Learning via online was easy with Santosha because their online platform was well organized. It took the doubt of online learning completely away. The teachers were also amazing! My experience of training with Santosha gave me a whole different understanding of yoga. The mental, spiritual, meditative side of yoga was so beneficial to my life and especially in these crazy times we are in currently.

I never thought I could feel such a strong sense of community, love and passion through my laptop! The courses are well organized and very complete. I have learned so much. The challenging part for me was to deconstruct what I had learned in my own yoga practice, in order to teach in a safe way for my future students. My life has been turned upside down with the COVID crisis. This training not only gave me new future perspectives, it also helped me go through a difficult time and listen to myself. I can only recommend!

I'm so grateful that this opportunity came up and I was able to learn from the most wonderful and knowledgeable instructors from around the world. There is so much to learn and I have been fully supported both during the course and ongoing. I've come away with such amazement at what I learnt as yoga is really so much more than I thought. I'm so happy to have found answers and I want to share my love for yoga with all.
