Santosha Yoga Institute: Online RYT-200 Certified Yoga Teacher Training

Course program

The Certified 200-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training by Santosha Yoga Institute is a Yoga Alliance RYT-200 program delivered through 200 hours of pre-recorded content with optional live Zoom Q&A. The school teaches in the Sri T. Krishnamacharya lineage, emphasising a therapeutic, vini-flow approach to yoga that supports both new teachers and personal practitioners.

This training is open to anyone with no prior credential required. It is designed for students who want to teach yoga in gyms and studios worldwide, as well as practitioners who want to deepen their own practice. Santosha welcomes students of all ages, body types, and experience levels, and offers support for studying around work, parenting, or other commitments.

The curriculum covers Hatha postures with safe alignment, modifications, and cues, then builds into sequencing flowing vinyasa classes drawn from the Krishnamacharya lineage. Anatomy is taught by a trained physiotherapist and yoga therapist, with a focus on teaching safely.

Students also study pranayama, meditation, Yoga Nidra, mantra and kirtan, and yoga philosophy through the Yoga Sutras. Specialist modules include yoga for mental health, trauma-informed teaching, pre and post natal yoga, therapeutic applications of yoga, Ayurveda, body and brain functioning, and yoga business skills for taking your teaching to the world. Students develop a personal daily practice of asana, pranayama, and meditation as part of the program.

The training is led by founder Sunny Richards, with a hand-picked team of senior teachers including Vivek (philosophy, India), Piera (meditation and pranayama, Bali), Andrea (anatomy and yoga teaching, Spain), Sarah (postures, Australia), and Meret (asana and pranayama, Switzerland). Santosha has over 20 years of training and retreat experience.

The course is fully self-paced and 100 percent online. Students gain immediate access on enrolment to the video modules, downloadable manuals, and Yoga Nidra and kirtan MP3s, and progress at their own pace. Optional live Zoom Q&A and mentor sessions run alongside, with recordings available. There is no deadline — students keep Zoom access until they graduate, however long that takes.

I held my workshop on Saturday afternoon. It was a practice run through with my husband to see how the format went and how I went! I absolutely loved it, and so did my husband. Overall, doing the practice run through was great as I now feel confident to advertise and run the workshop for a small group of people! Thank you so much for sharing all of your experience, knowledge and wisdom. I would never have had the confidence or the knowledge to pursue this without you.

The online material was so thorough and informative that I never felt I was lost or missing something. Learning via online was easy with Santosha because their online platform was well organized. It took the doubt of online learning completely away. The teachers were also amazing! My experience of training with Santosha gave me a whole different understanding of yoga. The mental, spiritual, meditative side of yoga was so beneficial to my life and especially in these crazy times we are in currently.

I never thought I could feel such a strong sense of community, love and passion through my laptop! The courses are well organized and very complete. I have learned so much. The challenging part for me was to deconstruct what I had learned in my own yoga practice, in order to teach in a safe way for my future students. My life has been turned upside down with the COVID crisis. This training not only gave me new future perspectives, it also helped me go through a difficult time and listen to myself. I can only recommend!

I'm so grateful that this opportunity came up and I was able to learn from the most wonderful and knowledgeable instructors from around the world. There is so much to learn and I have been fully supported both during the course and ongoing. I've come away with such amazement at what I learnt as yoga is really so much more than I thought. I'm so happy to have found answers and I want to share my love for yoga with all.
