Santosha Yoga Institute: Online RYT-500 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Course program

The Online RYT-500 300-Hour Yoga Teacher Training by Santosha Yoga Institute is an advanced Yoga Alliance-accredited program built around a 100-hour Yoga Therapeutics core. Students choose four 50-hour specialist modules to complete the 300 hours, shaping the training around the styles they want to teach.

This training is designed especially for qualified yoga teachers who already hold an RYT-200 credential and want to register as RYT-500. It suits experienced teachers seeking to deepen their offering with specialist skills such as Yoga Therapy, Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Pre + Post Natal, Meditation, Ayurveda, or Kids & Teens, and to facilitate one-on-one and group work alongside group classes.

The required 100-hour Yoga Therapeutics module covers in-depth anatomy for yoga therapy, healing with the mind-body connection, asana, pranayama and meditation for healing, yoga therapy for mental wellbeing, and intelligent yoga sequencing. Case study presentations and personalised feedback are built into this module.

Students then choose four of six 50-hour specialist modules. The Yin Yoga module works through meridians, fascia and connective tissue, and the five elements of Earth, Metal, Wood, Water, and Fire. Yoga Nidra covers techniques for sleep, stress reduction, and anxiety relief, and how Nidra works alongside asana and mantra. The Meditation module spans the Eight Limbs of Yoga, monkey mind, samsara, subtle body study, and fourteen guided meditation styles. Ayurveda covers Doshas, Prakruti, Gunas, nutrition, lifestyle, and dosha-specific sequences. Pre + Post Natal addresses all trimesters, breath work, vocal toning, and Mums & Bubs classes. The Kids & Teens module focuses on nervous system regulation, resilience, and age-appropriate sequencing.

The program is led by Santosha’s senior teaching team. Sunny Richards, the institute’s founder, holds E-RYT-500 and brings over 22 years of teaching experience across Vinyasa, Yoga Therapy, Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, and Meditation. Specialist modules are led by John Vincent Riccio (Ayurveda), Andrea Abian (Yin Yoga and Yoga Therapy), Piera Maria (Meditation), and other Santosha senior teachers.

The format is self-paced online. Students receive immediate access to video-based instruction, downloadable PDF manuals, and the full Santosha manual library. Monthly open Zoom Q&A sessions with E-RYT-500 teachers are included as a bonus, and a personalised one-on-one mentoring session is provided upon completion. Assessment is built around case study presentations and feedback on five recorded targeted sequences.

I held my workshop on Saturday afternoon. It was a practice run through with my husband to see how the format went and how I went! I absolutely loved it, and so did my husband. Overall, doing the practice run through was great as I now feel confident to advertise and run the workshop for a small group of people! Thank you so much for sharing all of your experience, knowledge and wisdom. I would never have had the confidence or the knowledge to pursue this without you.

The online material was so thorough and informative that I never felt I was lost or missing something. Learning via online was easy with Santosha because their online platform was well organized. It took the doubt of online learning completely away. The teachers were also amazing! My experience of training with Santosha gave me a whole different understanding of yoga. The mental, spiritual, meditative side of yoga was so beneficial to my life and especially in these crazy times we are in currently.

I never thought I could feel such a strong sense of community, love and passion through my laptop! The courses are well organized and very complete. I have learned so much. The challenging part for me was to deconstruct what I had learned in my own yoga practice, in order to teach in a safe way for my future students. My life has been turned upside down with the COVID crisis. This training not only gave me new future perspectives, it also helped me go through a difficult time and listen to myself. I can only recommend!

I'm so grateful that this opportunity came up and I was able to learn from the most wonderful and knowledgeable instructors from around the world. There is so much to learn and I have been fully supported both during the course and ongoing. I've come away with such amazement at what I learnt as yoga is really so much more than I thought. I'm so happy to have found answers and I want to share my love for yoga with all.
