School of Positive Transformation: Spirituality Practitioner Certificate

Course program

The Spirituality Practitioner Certificate by School of Positive Transformation is an accredited program for professionals who want to support clients’ spiritual wellbeing with integrity. Led by Dr. William Bloom, the training blends academic evidence, contemplative practice, and pastoral skills, offering an inclusive framework that meets people across religious, secular, or skeptical backgrounds.

No prior experience or qualifications are required. The certificate is designed for coaches, therapists, educators, counselors, wellness practitioners, chaplains, and pastoral care workers who want to integrate spirituality into their professional work. It also suits anyone seeking to deepen their personal capacity to support spiritual wellbeing, whether working with individuals or facilitating groups.

The curriculum spans eight modules. Module 1 explores diversity and universality in spirituality, including ways to talk about spirituality and a universal model of wonder and beauty. Module 2 covers the historical and cultural context of spirituality and medicine, from patriarchy to global village to person-centered care. Module 3 examines the evidence and theory for how spirituality benefits health and wellbeing, drawing on over 3,000 academic papers and a mind-body-spirit model.

Modules 4 and 5 focus on developing your own spiritual practice and activating your clients’ spiritual wellbeing, including grounding, earthing, and embodiment work. Module 6 addresses spirituality and mental health, covering spiritual crisis, distress versus mental illness, and referral protocols. Module 7 builds your spiritual tool bag with kindness, co-presence, psychic safety, and holding suffering. Module 8 develops pastoral care and chaplaincy skills, including leading silence, holding sacred space, blessings, and rites of passage.

The program is taught by Dr. William Bloom, a world-renowned spiritual teacher and author of 26 books on spirituality and related topics. Dr. Bloom is co-founder of the Foundation for Holistic Spirituality and founder and CEO of the Spiritual Companions Trust, with decades of experience guiding individuals, practitioners, and communities in spiritual practice and support.

The format is self-paced and online. Students work through 32 video lessons across the eight modules, alongside downloadable materials and 50+ guided practices, exercises, and meditation scripts. Lifetime access is included, and most students complete the program in as little as six weeks. Optional weekly live Q&A sessions with trainers offer ongoing support, and students also join a private online community for peer connection.
