Siddhi Yoga: 50 Hour Chair Yoga for Seniors

Course program

The 50-Hour Chair Yoga for Seniors by Siddhi Yoga is a Yoga Alliance-accredited online program that adapts traditional Hatha yoga to a chair-based practice for older adults. It covers anatomy of aging, gentle asana, breathwork, and therapeutic sequences for common senior ailments, framed within the school’s Indian yoga lineage.

This program is designed for two audiences: older adults seeking gentle, low-impact movement that supports balance, mobility, and mental wellness, and yoga teachers who want to add a chair yoga specialization for senior students. No formal prerequisite is stated to enroll, though the YACEP credit hours are most useful to students who already hold a yoga teaching credential.

The curriculum is organized into eleven topic areas spanning roughly 150 video lessons. The introduction covers the fundamentals of chair yoga, what equipment you need, and how to choose a stable chair for safe practice. From there the course moves into anatomy with respect to aging, chair grounding, chair warm-ups, Chair Surya Namaskara, chair-based core exercises, and chair asanas adapted from standing and seated poses.

A dedicated section on pranayama covers Kapalbhati, Anuloma Viloma, and Ujjayi breathing techniques, followed by Chair Savasana for guided relaxation. The final modules apply chair yoga to senior citizens and to specific ailments, including therapeutic sequences for arthritis, frozen shoulders, balance issues, and cognitive conditions. A digital training manual supports the video content and the lessons include subtitles in ten languages.

The course is led by Sandeep Solanki, the lead instructor at Siddhi Yoga, whose teaching covers Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Yin, alignment, yoga therapy, pranayama, meditation, yoga philosophy, mudras, and chair yoga. Siddhi Yoga has operated since 2013 from Singapore and India and has trained more than 5,000 yoga teachers across 125+ countries.

The format is hybrid: pre-recorded video lessons taught at your own pace, paired with daily live Zoom classes for guided practice and questions. The base tier provides six months of course access alongside six months of Zoom class access; an upgraded lifetime tier is also offered. Lessons are delivered in English with subtitles in ten languages and are supported by a digital manual.
