Sounds True: Facing Your Shadow

Course program

Facing Your Shadow is a self-paced audio program from Sounds True, co-taught by Caroline Myss and Andrew Harvey. Structured as an eight-part transformational learning experience, it introduces the Jungian idea of the Shadow as ‘the force that runs our lives’ and guides listeners to recognise the unconscious archetypal patterns that quietly shape behaviour, relationships, and self-understanding.

There are no prerequisites and no skill level is required to enrol. The program is designed for anyone drawn to depth work — readers of Caroline Myss, students of Andrew Harvey, or simply people who sense that their lives are being shaped by patterns they cannot yet see. It suits self-directed learners comfortable with audio-only contemplative material rather than structured curriculum.

The curriculum centres on five practical capacities. First, you’ll learn to understand and interact with the archetypal patterns that underpin your life. Second, you’ll investigate hidden drives such as the need for control, a fear of loneliness, or jealousy, and become conscious of how these forces influence your behaviour. Third, you’ll learn to own your projections about others and the world, and begin to see with greater clarity. Fourth, you’ll work to unravel the stories your ego tells you to keep you from seeing the truth in your life. Finally, you’ll explore the Golden Shadow — the part of you that contains your greatest gifts and talents, often buried alongside the difficult material. Across twelve audio learning sessions and two Q&A sessions recorded during live broadcasts, Caroline Myss and Andrew Harvey trace these themes through archetypal, contemplative, and mystical lenses, supported by written materials, program summaries, and reflection questions.

Caroline Myss is a five-time New York Times bestselling author and internationally renowned speaker on human consciousness, spirituality, energy medicine, and medical intuition. She co-teaches the program with Andrew Harvey, a poet, writer, teacher, and mystic, and a former fellow at All Souls College, Oxford. Together they bring archetypal and mystical perspectives to shadow work.

The program is fully self-paced. On purchase you receive lifetime access to twelve audio learning sessions, two Q&A sessions previously recorded during live broadcasts, and online materials featuring written content, program summaries, and reflection questions. There are no live calls, no cohort schedule, and no assessments — students work through the material independently, returning to specific sessions as the inner work surfaces.
