The Handstand School: Handstand Coaching Certification

Course program

The Handstand Coaching Certification by The Handstand School is a 75-hour Level 1 teacher training that turns experienced handstand practitioners into handstand coaches. The program blends handstand anatomy, skill development, programming, and coaching methodology with real-world business foundations, all delivered through a mix of pre-recorded lectures and scheduled live case-study calls.

The training is for practitioners and aspiring coaches who already have a consistent handstand practice, specifically yoga and Pilates teachers, gymnasts, calisthenics practitioners, and movement professionals who want to turn their own practice into a coaching craft.

The curriculum is built around a system for assessing and addressing students across three categories: mobility, strength, and motor control. Students learn how to evaluate a practitioner’s current handstand ability, identify the specific gaps holding them back, and build progressive programming to move them from kicking up at the wall to catching balance in the middle of the room.

Alongside the physical training material, the program covers handstand anatomy, skill progressions, class structure and programming, and coaching methodology. It also includes real-world business foundations and personal branding for aspiring coaches, along with live student-led case studies where trainees present photos and videos of sample students performing specific skills and drills.

The program is led by the three co-founders of The Handstand School — Andrey Moraru, Dr. Robert Adams, and Kyle Weiger — with a combined 40+ years of training and teaching experience. Andrey is a professional hand balancer with starring roles at Cirque du Soleil and Quixotic. Dr. Robert Adams is a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy who leads the school’s anatomy and physiology curriculum. Kyle Weiger has coached over 10,000 students in 72 countries through his online handstand programs.

The format is hybrid. Core instruction is delivered through pre-recorded lectures on anatomy, coaching, programming, and personal branding, which students work through at their own pace. Every other weekend, trainees meet on Google Meet or Zoom for live group discussions on the lecture material and, in later modules, to present case studies from their sample students. An optional in-person graduation weekend in Las Vegas is offered each cohort but is not required for certification.
