The Mindful Coach: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Training

Course program

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Training by The Mindful Coach is an online, self-paced adaptation of the original M.B.S.R. program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Led by G Ross Clark, a certified M.B.S.R. trainer, the course introduces mindfulness practice as a method for reducing stress, improving relationships, and building attention in daily life.

This training is for anyone interested in lowering stress and anxiety, improving focus at work, or bringing more presence into their relationships. No previous meditation or mindfulness experience is required. It is especially suitable for people who want a flexible, self-paced program to fit mindfulness practice into their own schedule.

The curriculum follows the standard eight-week M.B.S.R. structure, expanded with a self-retreat module. Across nine modules, students work through opening and closing meditations, inner reflection, body scan practice, breath-based meditation, standing and lying yoga, walking meditation, and guided exploration of difficult emotions and physical pain.

Early modules introduce foundational attitudes of mindfulness — non-judging, patience, beginner’s mind — through short video teachings and audio practices. Later modules move into perception and creative responding, the pleasure of being present, working with physical and emotional pain, and integrating mindfulness into everyday activities. Each module includes a theme overview, a guided opening meditation, core practices, an assignments section, and a closing meditation.

The program is taught by G Ross Clark, founder of The Mindful Coach. Ross holds certifications as an M.B.S.R. trainer from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, an M.B.C.T. trainer from the University of Toronto, and an MB-EAT (Mindfulness Based Eating Awareness) trainer from Indiana State University. He also trained as a Vipassana and Jhana meditation teacher in Kandy, Sri Lanka. His mindfulness work has been delivered at institutions including York University, the University of Waterloo, the Rotman School of Management, the City of Kitchener, Inland Revenue New Zealand, and the Department of National Defense.

The course is completely self-paced and online. Students can start at any time, work through the modules at their own speed, and keep lifetime access to all materials across devices. Course materials are downloadable. Support is provided by email and phone, and assignments run throughout the program. A 30-day money-back guarantee applies.
